I did at one of the arcades I played at because I was so much older than the other players there. Me being 26 in all!! Everyone else was 16-20 and let's just say that I felt very out of place because I was the only one that wasn't just coming from school to play DDR.

Don't worry!!! We 1x players have to stick together. We are a dying breed!!

I feel out of place being somewhat of a veteran player, with all these young kids running around that are SUPER good. It bothers me that I've been playing for 2 years, and they've been playing for a few months and are almost at my level. _________________

I almost feel the way that you feel. But I am at a pretty high level myself. So, the only way that players can superceed my ability is to get alot of AAA's.
But in complete fairness I feel that I'm really pushing the limits of my own ablity. I hate to admit that my body as limits. I wish it didn't but there are just those out there that succeed my abilites and there's nothing I can do about it.
also, there nothing better than playing songs on 1x.
Edit: on a side note I happen to be from fort myers florida!!! Miss home so much!!!

I usually feel a little out of place at my arcade in several ways. The arcade is in the middle (literally) of downtown Atlanta, and it's full of these guys who are like twice my size. I'm a smallish white chick who doesn't wear the kind of clothing most of these people wear - I'm the complete opposite from them.
Also, I'm one of the few skilled (ha) players in my arcade - one of the only non-Light players, and one of even fewer Heavy players. Most of the people we get on the machine there have no idea what they're doing, or can barely pass Light songs.
However, when I venture out to other arcades, with better players, or when I'm at the arcade with my DDR friends, I don't feel out of place, even if they're of a higher skill level than me. I'm not sure why. I prefer watching people better than me over people worse than me, because A: it gives me something to aspire to, and B: I have this weird thing with not liking to be better than other people.

The answer is yes.
Everyone at Cyberstation is like 14-30 and I feel kinda out of place because I'm only 10. Plus, even though I'm a Heavy player, I still kinda out of place because I can only snag a B on So Deep while everyone else can get the almighty AA on PSMO shuffle. Though most of the people at Cyberstation are nice people, some of them are elitist jerks. |

I don't feel out of place, but that's because I talk to almost everyone who plays DDR here. If there's someone new I normally talk to them, ask them how things are going, etc.
Of course, I'm normally the only female who plays, so I'm bound to feel out of place somewhat. There are sometimes up to 10 guys, and I'm the only female playing. (There are other females around, just not playing.)
Most people expect me to play Light/Standard mode, even new people, and if I select Heavy and then want to play something like Insertion they freak out. Kinda makes ya insecure, but I get over it. _________________

i just feel silly kuz im older and a girl... and i suck.
haha... but seriously... just be confident and don't care about what you think everyone watching is thinking...
i used to suck so horribly.. but i kept going anyways and now i can do heavies
of course i still feel like an buttocks when i mess up... and i can only do heavies on 5th mix... which still pisses me off...
but anyways.... lots of us have felt this way at one time... i guess you just have to either talk to people, or deal with it _________________

I don't often go to the more popular arcades on Long Island. I have my little secret spots I go to for good practice (and low cost), but since no one there plays at my level I often feel like everyone always has eyes on me and giving me extra turns. Even when I'm not playing they'll all be waiting for me to get on. Weird. |
