We are DDRFreaks. How might we(DDRFreak members) assist in anyway to get sponsors to host your videos and all similar things? _________________

I don't understand the question. Can you describe what you want to do in more detail? _________________

Basically, it requires about $400/mo for the type of hosting, or 10 mbps unmetered bandwidth. Once we have that, we get the videos back online. _________________

...that's 1,000 gigs of files going through one website. |
Keep in mind that I didn't even advertise those videos. I just changed the links and BOOM it happened. _________________

I really do think that BitTorrent is going to be our solution... only problem is, we're going to have the added crap of people complaining about a lack of seeding.
I know I'm not in a position anymore to be expending huge amounts of bandwidth from my computer, I could seed a set or two maybe, but that's it.
Do any of you members out there have any ideas?
The only thing resting in my mind is:
Someone I know has a BitTorrent server, he hosts all the torrents, and then he seeds them all too if there's not enough peers.
It's something like... if there's not enough seeds, then the server acts as a seeder with a capped upload rate.
JDogg, do you have any headroom for something similar? _________________

The best way to go is to have a dedicated server for the videos. It may be costly, but it will work. |
Like I said, $400/mo.
Anyway, I don't want to use BT because most people don't know how to use it, and I would have to put entire tournaments in a torrent in order to make it worth it, and it prevents people from downloading individual videos. _________________

What happens after 6 days? Game over? Doesn't sound like a permanent solution to me. _________________

A long time ago you had the idea to charge a small amount for access to the videos. You could make a poll on the main page asking if people would pay for access to the videos. It might work. |
Trust me, $400 is a great deal for 10 mbps unmetered bandwidth at a colo facility. I can ask about charging for videos in the polls. _________________

Is that all? Have you considered a donation link on the front page? I'm pretty sure you'd make it, and if you didn't, custom titles for contributors of over $10 would be good fundraising. |
