how good is the soft pad mod on DDRFREAK guides

i'm getting a new pad and i want to mod it like that, has anyone done this already, how good is it?

It's seems to work pretty well. Here's my take on the mod. http://my.execpc.com/~fjoachim/images/DDRPAD%20002.jpg I've been using it for over 2-months without problems. Considering about I play mostly 9 and 10 footers, I would say it's held up rather well.

Hah. I did that with my soft pads. I put two of them, side-to-side, ontop of hard wood so it wouldn't move. Worked like a charm.

A lot of people like to bash soft pads even if they are modded but my personal opinion is that they are excellent.

Sure... they are no Cobalt Flux... but for a $20 pad they will hold out for quite a while and since I am a total cheap buttocks, thats ok with me! Even on 9 and 10 footers it should slide around too much and it shouldnt totally destroy the pad if you stretch it out tightly before taping. You wouldnt belive how many people tape down their pads to keep from sliding but will tape it down while the pad is "loose" so that it still bunches up under their feet even if it doesnt move.
