No, it would have to have been made by Konami to be in the Bemani series. _________________

...No. Donka Konga is made by Namco, produced by Nintendo. _________________

A whole bunch of people have played it already and can tell you how it is. It's a pretty fun game. I've played the JP version a whole bunch, and the US version at E3 seemed pretty much the same. _________________

I wouldn't be too sure of that. From what I hear, the US version will be almost identical to the JP version. _________________

Well it seems you are right. A friend of mine who went to E3 said that the songlists were supposed to be near identical. How wrong he was... the European edition even has a completely different soundtrack. _________________

I've heard that the Japanese version won't save on an American Gamecube...just a warning for those planning to import. _________________

As far as I know, the only way it won't save is if you use the Freeloader disc-swap thingy. I'm pretty sure it'll save on a modded GameCube.
Anyone wanna throw the link to the American differences from the Japanese game? Just kinda curious. _________________

While the game is slated to offer all the content from the original, there have been some changes from the Japanese version. The most extensive work has been done on the game's song list, which would have gone over like a lead balloon in the US. Rather than keeping the Japanese version's oddball collection of game music, which consisted of folk songs as well as J-pop tunes, the game will have a new batch of music. You'll find more than 30 new songs in the game, including some recognizable themes from Nintendo games and classics like "Wild Thing" and "Dancing in the Street."

I imported Donkey Konga and it is a great game, but a region modified GC is the only way to go. So far the only differences I have ever encountered between a JAP Gamecube and a USA Gamecube is 1 resistor. Yup, you heard correct, there is only one resistor keeping your USA GC from playing import games, how much of a crock is that? Anyway though, here are some things I have picked up along the way in dealing with the Gamecube.
First, the freeloader thing sometimes does not allow you to save on import games while playing them on a USA GC. I don't really know why, but I have never owned a freeloader so I have no first hand experience. I wouldn't pay $20 for that crappy little disc when I could pay $2 for a switch and install a region switch myself.
Second, mod the gamecube, it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run. I have had no problems with my gamecube since I region modified it and I have decent soldering skills. It isn't that hard but you pretty much have to completely disassemble the gamecube and solder 2 wires to the motherboard. So, instead of having to put the freeloader in every time all you have to do is flip a toggle switch between JAP and USA.
Third, you need a memory card for your USA gamesaves and a memory card for your JAP gamesaves. They won't go on the same card because it has to be formatted for JAP or USA, which really sucks, but it is still worth it.
Anyway, that is my two cents. _________________

Bleh, sorry to sound like a n00b, but when is this scheduled to come out for US release? Do you know if it will come with the drums, and how much will it cost?
I heard that it's basically an easy game and that there's no unlocks for it besides harder difficulties. This is my friend talking about the Japanese version, is it true? _________________
