The article said she suffered from a myocardial hypertrophy. =P

I did some research and found that myocardial hypertrophy is associated with obesity... and even though the article said that is is genetic, it's not necessarily genetic. The area's around her heart and her arteries were probably so clogged up that her heart couldn't keep up with the activity she was doing.

Dur.

I'm not a doctor but I'm just saying its not fair to comment unless we know what the condition is. The good thing is that she is ok, cos this would be bad publicity for DDR otherwise.

Wow! That's incredible! I'm glad she's alright. Let's just hope a bunch of assholes from fox news are gonna tie it to DDR being responsible.

I think one of the good things the news report did was show people playing begginer. If I was watching it I'd be more inclined to completley blame it on her genetics than the game cause the game looked so easy. However, if they showed someone playing some heavy mode, one would be more inclined to lay some blame on the game because it is so fast paced.

I don't think we'll need to worry about DDR getting connected with bad press... The article gave off the vibe that it was coincidence anyways. And don't start assuming about the girl and her dieting problems Syxx....cause it only makes an ass out of u.....

My family has a history of heart problems and I've seen both my grandfather and father die right in front of me, my father just recently. This is probably why I'm having trouble seeing why people like syxx and the four thousand unoriginal bastards laughing about his joke aren't being warned.

Oh wait! Someone is being warned! Woodsaur! The only one that actually made sense and gave some kind of honest opinion that wasn't openly making fun of it! These forums amaze me more every day!

Eh a ton of posts in this thread sicken me. Fat people CAN play DDR. I know someone who weights 350-400 lbs that can school 90% of you. Easily.

Second, stfu about bad publicity. I don't want it either. But only idiots could get bad publicity from that article. If you didn't read it/listen to the movie, it said she was LUCKY to be in the arcade. It could've hit her in her sleep and she could've died BUT she was in the arcade and so LIVED because of the arcade managers. It sucks that she'll prolly never play DDR again, but that's her problem not ours.

Eh, I don't know how (some of) y'all can flame someone you don't even know who got hurt... I bet 9/11 was funny in y'alls opinion too eh?

Syxx's comment was a joke. The girl is alive and well, and she obviously survived. Is it so wrong to try to lighten up the mood with a little DDR-humor? Of course, if she had died, it would be a completely insensitive thing to say. Fortunately, she lives, and the situation is different. P-chan has a heart condition too, and I don't see him taking it so personally, either.

I'm sorry for your losses. However, don't you think it would be nice if they lived? If your dad survived and was alive and well, and I said "too bad your father didn't die. man that sucks. i wish he died", you would have appreciated that? I seriously doubt it.

That is so sad!!! E2.gif I hope no one out there end up like her, that's why when you play the game, you should check if you have any medical problems before performing on it!

Proly' not, considering that the article claims she's still recovering in the hospital.

Fifteen and she had a heart attack? And now she'll have a pacemaker and meds for life? Thats so sad.

Wow. She must really really really like DDR. If I had a heart attack I'd sell all of my pads before I even leave the hospital. (I'd keep my games though and play on a controller instead!) E4.gif

J dogg is right by the way, it's not like that girl died. That's totally different.

I know people who are overweight who can play the game... quite well. But there is a difference between overweight and this girl. I mean, look at her picture.

Obviously, you didnt do enough research. Heck, if you even read the artical closely, she didnt actually have a heart attack, she had heart failure. Her heart stopped receiving the signal from her brain that told it to beat. For all we know, her arteries could be clean as a whistle. Just because she looks overweight doesnt mean she's unhealthy. And honestly, you shouldnt say stuff on this message board that you wouldnt say to her face. Your rude comments are not only insulting to her, but to many of the readers of the DDRFreak messageboards. So next time you do "research", you shouldn't put in speculations (indicated by the use of words like "probably"). Instead, do a thourough job researching, and report the facts.

And by the way, is "DUR" supposed to be making fun of retarded people? Cause that's just totally cool. Seriously.

I wonder if she's heard of IIDX, and if it will worsen her condition, I mean, it's not even 1/10 as exhausting as DDR...

I stated facts and gave my opinion...

That's why we have message boards, for opinions.

I'm not a news reporter.
