I thought it was cute. Of course he wasn't the real champion from China, they just did that to make it seem like a more serious event even though it was all a joke.

And why are you people saying they won't sell shoes without DDR? Most people won't see that commercial and say to themselves "Oh Jesus Christ, that's Pump It Up, I won't buy those shoes! Where's my god damn DDR?!", they probably won't even notice the difference. Many people will go "oooh, look how fast his feet are moving! THE SHOES MAKE HIS FEET MOVE FAST I WANT THE SHOES!!!"

Honestly, what difference does it make if it's PIU or DDR? You play both games with your feet to fun music, oh emm eff gee.

actually some of the steps were winter ones, such as the crossover's the asian guy is doing int he hall way and the end, where they are doing the diagonal jumps with the center alternating....sure those steps arent during THAT part of the song, but they are in the song nonetheless...

yea uncalled PIU bashing...bah, have an open mind peeps

Wow... been a while since ive logged in... i dont even use this username anywhere anymore (except for here i guess)

anywho... when i first saw the commercial i was all OMGWTF?!?!? ... even if it was pump it up it was still cool... tho i do wish they had DDR on it instead (but only for personal reason, as i have never played PIU)... the story was bunk, but who cares... im just kinda glad bemani has made it into a comercial...

and ive never seen that schetcers (sp?) commersal.

At least Andamiro listens to US fans, includes us in world ranking contests, releases decent international mixes, and is intent on getting their game known.

Konami acts like it couldn't care less about the US DDR scene at times.

And it's already been said, but I'd like to reinforce the fact that Banya's "Winter" was in Pump well before Taka's "V" was in DDR.

Commercial was still kinda lame though.

Well Konami USA has a lot more obstacles to hurdle than Andamiro ever did.

Although I coulda sworn the controversy from a few years back was Andamiro couldn't make US PIUs here in America, although I guess now that Konami died it doesn't really matter.

If only we had a commercial FOR the ACTUAL game instead of shoes or something.

Extreme US still maybe has a chance for its own commercial, hey Frogger got one, and so did Karaoke Revolution, both games that make less money than DDR.

EDIT: Saw this commercial 4 times while watching the MXC "Almost Live" College Edition that came on today...

Anyone know what other TV Stations it came on?

I do not like PIU. I never really did. It was and to this day will always be In my book a rip off of DDR. Then I find out that a mix has Vivaldi's Four Season's in it. Granted its a classical song, but no one should believe they decided to do that originally without knowing konami did it. Okay. Now they do a commercial. Of all the Pump It Up songs, including Beethoven's Virus, they magically decide to choose the one song that is also in DDR. I will be brutelly honest, sickens me. That's me though.

Have you not been studying your arcade games for the past few years? PIU came out before DDR did, so anyone saying it's a ripoff should study more.

Damn I can never trust those arcade history sites. I could have SWORN it came out earlier than DDR. I could just have SWORN. Oh well. PIU is not a ripoff of ddr by the way. Sure they may look similar, but Andimiro didn't just look at DDR and say "Hey let's rip that game off."

I walked into the room and saw a trick bar and was like " DDR ON TV!!! ^_^ " Only to have my happy thoughts thrashed by that PIU crap...

...although this could be good news, it could get a lot of n00bs start playing PIU instead of DDR and leave us with the machine all to our selves!!! lol

...i still havent seen da commercial coz i live in australia

but they did have the sketchers add! maybe in a few days/weeks/months they will show it here too~

Wow! I can't believe how much nitpicking is going on. Its is all in fun so stop analyzing it. Next somebody its going to see how many steps they took or if they were really playing on the same level. I've played PIU and not its biggest fan but still a fun game. Point is it was meant to be a funny commercial and it was.

I will say though Konami drop the ball time on this one. If they want DDR to make big money in the States then that was there moment. Hell they could have use it to promote a new arcade game (if they ever going to make another one) and got a whole new crowd of players. Name like Nike wouldn't hurt you trust me but like someone said earlier, most people won't be able to tell the difference and will think its DDR and Konami wins. Konami should jump on the shoe thing though IMO.

Im sorry, but the commercial was just stupid. Im glad i did a half buttocks job at the audition, because they didnt know WHAT they where looking for.

First they said style, so i "FS'd" to Miricle moon, then everyone else does 9s, so i go back up and do a 9. All this time im thinking WTF? Then they do the commercial without "style".

They did the auditions on DDR, that was f'd up too.

WHO THE HELL PRACTICES IN THERE HALLWAY?! WHO THE HELL HAS A HUGE LIGHT THING?
