I have a few questions which have been on my mind

1. In the FAQ, it is stated that advertising is not allowed. Yet on the forums, I see that only certain forums pertaining to advertising are locked. There are certain threads which deal with DDR teams, and the mods are even participants of. Are certain circumstances allowed?

2. Are the administrators actually part of DDRFreak, as in they work for DDRFreak, or are they just a higher rank than the mods in terms of moderating the forums? The reason I ask is because someone mentioned that DDRFreak is a Limited Liability Company (they could be wrong), but I thought JDogg was the only one running DDRFreak for the most part.

3. Is evasion of the language filter allowed? I have seen many moderators do this. It could be setting a bad example for the general users of this forum.

4. Can a user be given 1000 warning points using the warning system in phpBB?

5. Okay, here's my last concern. During the April Fools joke, we all experienced the power a moderator has. When a moderator edits a post, the post does not show that the mod had edited it. Here's a scenario...

Let's say a moderators girlfriend or boyfriend broke up with him or her. The girlfriend or boyfriend is now with someone else on this forum. Because of this, the moderator is very angry/jealous. He or she decides to get revenge on the forum user. He or she edits the user's posts causing the user to look like a mean person who everyone would hate, or just a really stupid person.

Is this a possibility?

Thanks in advance.

Just my opinion on some:

3) The filter is more sort of there to make the idiots who try to swear just for the sake of swearing look even more like idiots (at least, that's what I was brought to believe)

4) We haven't tried that out yet biggrin.gif

5) I don't think any of the mod's would be that... childish, tbh. It's possible, but I don't see any of the staff doing it.

I'd have to look at the specific "DDR Team" threads, but when we say advertising we mean "Hey guys check out my cool site!" That can be done in your signature. With DDR Teams it's a little different because the team can talk together on the forums (which is not advertising) and so I wouldn't really lock a thread. But if someone just said "Hey guys check out my team's website!" then I'd probably lock it if I saw it right away.

You make it seem like the admins aren't part of DDR Freak, or that the mods don't "work" for DDR Freak either. All the staff (mods and admins) "work" for DDR Freak. Some of us do coding stuff, others help decide the direction of the forums/site, others just moderate the boards. And yes, DDR Freak is a LLC owned by JDogg. But that doesn't mean he's the only one that runs it =P

Obviously it is because the mods do it. The MAIN purpose for the filters (regardless of what other people think) is to make trolls look like idiots. For example, if someone comes on to the forum just to troll, they're going to look stupid by having their first post say "Frick you, you're all a bunch of buttocks." Then their next post is "Wait, what the frick? Who changed my post?" They look foolish and decide (well, we help them because we ban them) is that it's pointless to try trolling.

Theoretically yes, but 9 is the ban limit. I believe on April Fool's we warned someone up WAY high.

I'm actually a little offended that you would suggest that we would do something like that. We don't just choose random people to moderate. We don't choose people who would do something like that. But in the EXTREMELY rare case that something like that did happen I would immediately remove their mod status. But we're all a lot more mature than that.

In the case of number 5, are you planning to steal a mod/admins girl/boy friend? If so who? LOL

Oops, sorry I offended you Spike. I never meant to make that sound as if I was saying the moderators are immmature. I was just wondering about that.

Haha, no. I have no idea who the majority of the mods (or their girl/boy friends) are in real-life. That was just the first thing that came to my mind while I was thinking of an example to use.

Higher than that special "someone" that got up to 93 points before the warn system broke? biggrin.gif

As for the vengeful significant other thing...There is a log-trail that could be followed if someone were to make such an accusation.

Actually, the warn system broke because of the content of the text in the warning, not the actual number. The actual number can go as high as 2147483647, I think.

This happened at another site I work for. In which we removed the moderator position from the user. The moderators at DDR Freak were more specifically picked than many other sites so this kind of thing doesn't happen.
