Hey, im 13 and I'm kind of over weight by 60 lbs (yeah, thats alot). I heard on television that this lady lost 98 lbs from playing DDR for about 2-3 years.
Anyways, I want to lose around 40 lbs by the beggining of september. Do you guys know how long I have to play by then? I usually play 10-20 min a day on standard on random everyday of the week (cept sat n sun). I really want to look slim and all. Thanks for your guys helps
Oh, and do you guys know what modes I should play in? (arcade, diet etc) _________________

You'll lose more weight at home than at the arcade; specifically because you won't have to wait your turn, and it's free.
Play Arcade mode. Play as much as you can. Back when I was a fanatic, I would play well over five hours of DDR a day. Don't play a difficulty that'll exhaust you too quickly, if you can only play Light mode, play it.
You'll lose all that weight, and more if you play plenty and eat healthy. Replace soda with water and juice, don't eat junk food.

I'm not an expert or anything, but I'm quite sure that only playing 10-20 mins a day won't help you lose 40lbs in 3-4 months. You'll have to bump that number up quite a bit if you're just playing DDR as your weight loss solution.
I would recommend playing in Workout Mode, as it tracks your calories and stats. Outside of that, I'm not the one to tell you much more on losing weight, since I've never had to lose any weight before..I'm quite in the dark on this subject. I would seriously check out books, talk to doctors and even surf on the web to find more information on this subject. Playing DDR will help, it's been proven in weight loss, but what other factors added to their losing weight, how much did they play, and such I don't have a clue. Man i played ddr for 3 months i lost alot of weight . i use to weigh 400 lbs yes i did. but i played ddr for 12 hrs everyday. then i run, lift weights.... etc......
im now 230. but i want to loss more eve nthough everyone says i need to gain. _________________

Hehe yup.. i learn that...
any way, my friends get mad when i dont eat. they said that i never eat breakfast or dinner. i only eat at school and i too damn busy to play ddr at home and dont eat. maybe thats why im skinny. also my dad plug the ps2 for playing too much. _________________

Um, I'm confused... How do you go from 400lbs to 230lbs and then in your very next post say you're 'skinny' and don't have time to play DDR, yet claim to play 12 hours a day and workout on top of that?!?! Either something isn't adding up or your grammer/spelling is just beyond comprehension. Not to mention, if you play 12 hours a day (or some other insane amount each day), how do you still find time to go to school, sleep, get your homework done, work (if you have a job) and still claim to have a "life" as you posted in another thread. Frankly speaking, something is definately not adding up here... |

Imposter!
Don't use weights if you just want to be slimmer. Here's what I do when I need to lose some weight, FAST.
Run 3 miles with 20lb weights on my ankles and wrists.
Jump rope up to 500
200 pushups
100 crunches
DDR all day on Standard mode.
Do this, drink water and juice (NO NO SODA!!!), eat very healthy (diet is the thing here), and you'll be losing weight in NO TIME. _________________

only thing i've changed in my lifestyle in the last 3 months is adding DDR, I've lost 10 pouns, i'm 220 now, i'm gonna be changing my diet and hoping i'll lose this nice litte *Mountain Dew Belly* I've got!!
Water is your friend!
Banannas are useful!
Just remember, Practice practice, and keep playing! IF you need help, I always go to the arcade and watch the people who are better than me, *few and far here in nebraska tho* that makes me want to try harder! _________________

Um, I'm confused... Ok I lost 40 lbs in 2 months. I went from 210 to 170. And i'm happy with that. Here's what i did. Eat healthy. But don't skip meals. Eat something light in the mornings and lunch and eat a little more at dinner. You stilll need your energy. Drink water (or a sport drink) cause it allows you to not get dehydrated. Also, don't just do DDR it helps the legs and burns calories but you need to do something like Sit-ups. cause your trying to lose weight around the stomach right? (or no i might have read it wrong) And while playing DDR try to go for long periods at a time. Your body first uses up carbs in your body, then glucose, and then fat (i might have skipped something there) so you need to use up your carbs and glucose before you will start to burn up your fat. I used to play 5 hrs a day on standard. (tip. don't overdo it on your first couple of songs. go easy and work up as it will help in weight loss and DDR stamina) And the most important thing....STICK WITH THE PLAN. doing this for 1 or 2 weeks will not help, you need to do this constantly. Yeah, I was aiming for the stomach area. What excercises do you recommend that a low stamina person(like me) can do alot and have a pretty good effect on the stomach area? I'm not sure If I can withstand 5 hours of DDR play a day. Maybe up to 1-2 hours. I've been starting the DDR diet (without the sit-ups,etc) and I lose like, 3 lbs lol. I can with stand around 5+ hours of DDR but its just that my body starts to itch like crazy when im sweating and my feet starts to get cramps so I can't jump anymore.
PS, when you lose weight, is it the sweat that loses the weight or the physical activities you do that loses weight? _________________

ddr alot!!!! also try not to eat alot of foods high in carbs or sat fat becuase those are the hardest things to burn off when you are exercising, sugar goes first so try to also steer away from that becuase it will just give youa big high then a real big low after its all burnt, which will result in you not burning anything off, jog also, do crunches, sit ups, push ups, and pull ups. Have fun _________________

Exactally. You need to play DDR but also do other exercises. And don't eat junk food. (i know, i can resist everything except temptation) because it will make it harder to burn off the startch & carbohydrates to get to the fats. Try to make excercising as fun as you can. Freestyleing helps burn off fat even more while DDRing. Or just move around A LOT
