the fact that in order for them to attempt to gain a point or two in the "social ladder" they have to insult someone just having a good time playing a video game who was minding their own business. _________________

I had a friend who after I told him about DDR, he said he saw some guys playing it and he and his group of friends laughed at them. From a considerable distance away. Even though they didn't know how well they were doing.
I then slapped some sense into him. |

Newb: A beginner at DDR.
n00b: Arrogant chump who thinks he's better than everyone without actually having any skill to speak of.
I think he's referring to the second definition.
What I love about n00bs is, despite how bad-ass they make themself seem, they start cowering once you actually drag them up there.
This past Friday, two kids walked up to me just after I'd finished a set. One of them seemed very sure of himself, so he challenged me to a game. I asked him if he wanted to bet any money (I'm usually not this confident, but I had a hunch.) and he put $40 down on the side of the machine. I pulled him up on the pad by the arm, and just before I put my coins in, he grabbed his money and bolted. _________________

Ha, that's just great. Fortunately, we don't have too much of a problem with that around here. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Well said!
It's great when a few kids play, not knowing that you get 3 songs in a game instead of one. Free game! |

waht i do is i let myself finish if a n00bs dissin me or something then casually get off and tell him "your turn." then you stand real close to the back of the pad and give him sarcastic commets like "oh NICE dude!" or "that was RAD!" if they dont think your being sarcastic, tho, you really look like an idiot =/ but when they get all butthurt, its hilarious. _________________

One of the funniest experiences I had with a n00b: I'm playing minding my own busines, then this n00b comes flying out of left field, jumps on the vacant pad, and shadows me. Keep in mind, I hate shadows. It was my first stage, so I asked him nicely to not do that again. He says OK and gets off the pad. Halfway through the 2nd stage, he jumps back on and shadows me again. Now I'm irritated.
I said to the n00b "Since you don't know how to listen, you can shadow me on my final stage if you want." For some odd reason, he got all happy. Didn't I say I hate shadows? I picked a random song, put it on sudden, shuffle, dark, reverse, boost, 1.5x, and the song was Paranoia Eternal. The look on his face was priceless. He took 3 steps, stopped and yelled "How you expect me to shadow if you got all those crazy options!?"
My reply was "That's exactly the point." _________________

I once was playing this one kid who thought he was really good so he kept challenging me to do hard songs and saying "So, do you think you can handle this one?". Then he asked if I wanted to do R&P. He told me that it's a really really hard song and that he's probably have to keep me in. I said "yeah, ok". Then I kicked his buttocks at it. I get an A, he gets a D. He got off the pad and gave me an evil look. _________________

I don't have too many problems with n00bs... I just tend to ignore them if they make fun of me... If they start making fun of other people though... that pisses me off. It's ALWAYS guys... mostly.
The only time I ever had a problem was my first time playing DDR. Yep, I was newb, just sorta nervous as I got on the machine for the first time in my live. (I heard about it from some other close friends of mine) I Aced beginner pretty dam easily once I got use to the steps. I thought to myself "Eh... this is easy.. pretty fun.. I should try light". Stupid Kamelia I was. 2 girls came up and started watching me. 2 very skinny, gothic looking chics who seemed to have an attitude. I glanced at them as I attempted to play Light. I was completely un use to all the other steps, and my timing was seriously off. I cracked a small nervous smile and said "This isn't as easy as Beginner was..." and than the main girl said. "You're playing Light...." She said it pretty coldly and eventually I failed my 3rd song and got off.
Turns out as I watched them, this one girl got on all showoffy and stuff... and playing heavy and got this 200 combo that seemed to blow me out of the water at the time. She was the biggest B--ch I had ever met. One of the only DDR players I had ever met, and she was kicking my a-- at this damn game.
~_~..... I was soo pissed off... my other friends didn't really seem to care though, having no interest in DDR what so ever. Everytime I saw them again, I just sorta twitched and walked away from them. I wouldn't have a problem with her if she had JUST not treated me like scum. I was seriously trying to play this game (Which I eventually got addicted to and play to this day with Enthusiam) and she just sorta brushed me off.
I will slap anyone who treats any Newb that way if that happens to anyone again. >_< I never treat Newbs that way. Last time I played with a girl who was a Newb, I just keep encouraging her and saying how good she was doing. oO' I wasn't kidding... They were doing pretty good considering it was their first time.
..
Whoops I rambled XD Sorry... Oh well. That's life. _________________

n00bs at the arcade: $0
n00bs shadowing you at the arcade: $0
n00bs that ignore your warnings: $0
n00bs that are completely 0wN3d: Priceless!
And just to add my own little n00b story to the list. Our machine has memory card slots and I've seen n00bs try to stick their money into the mem slots many times. Usually I correct them and they are like, "thanks", but one time there was this B*tch (who might have been a bit drunk too) trying to put her money into the memory card slots. I said to her, "That's not where you put in your money, it's down below".
She gave me the look of death and said, "Well, where the hell are you supposed to put it anyway?!?!" Good Times. n00bs make the world just that much more interesting for the rest of us. |

More irritating than funny.
Evil little ADHD newb at our arcade that stomps, and stomps, and plays like somebody trying to mock DDR.
And anytime he's around me he always annouces proudly that I'm the one that taught him how to play.
And I'm all like, "AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!! I TAUGHT YOU HOW TO PUT COINS INTO THE MACHINE!!!"
Very irritating little boy, always plays Captain Jack twice in a row and then DDR twice in a row. _________________
