I'm getting ready to build my first pad and I need some extra info on the sensors. What seems to be the best setup for sensors? Im probably going to build ddrhomepad's pad. Also how well will the lucite hold up? Is there a better option for that? Can i use a 3/16 piece of lucite instead of 2 3/32"? _________________

I made a metal pad and Ive got a problem. My down button doesnt want to work during gameplay. In the menus it works fine but when Im in a song, I get nothing. Im using an old original Sony controller. Im thinking it may be a voltage issue. But Im not entirely sure. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know what your solution was or if you have any thing that may need to be brought to my attention that would be great. I miss my DDR and I hate getting C's when I know i can do better. Damn malfunctioning button, lol. Thanx alot for the help! _________________

I'm about to work on a metal pad but I like to have everything sorted out before I start a project and I'm a little confused on exactly how to wire the pad with the screw and sheet metal method...does anyone have some good diagrams, instructions...pictures...anything of how to wire the arrows using this method along with patster's lighting style? _________________

My guess:
Did you hook it up to the down on the arrow part, or the other part (X, O, Triangle, square)? If you hooked it up to the arrow part, it should work, otherwise you'll have to go to options and configure your controller to accept inputs from the other part. |

(Sorry, I wasn't sure where to put this, I was thinking Softpad, but this is more of a controller question).
I have two controllers, one that hooks up to a ps2, and one that hooks up to a computer. The problem is, one is a mat (ps2) and the other is an actual CONTROLLER. is there any way I could cut the wires, connect em together, and get them to work? I don't want to try this if it doesn't seem feasible... |

unusual type of contacts, very efficient design, less than $90 to make. EXTREMELY SENSITIVE (used just my toes when testing on beginner, hey, i just had sergury, and im not supposed to be on my feet, heheh does that make me a junkie), did i say compact? And with a little mod you can make the pads light up. below are some pics of it (dont have the frame on right now)
Complete Pad
3/4 View
Back side, no wires, nice and clean.
If your really bold, you can make the cable (ps) connect to the pad via DB9.
Right now i have the lame buttons from hapcontrols, they were out of stock of what i was looking for, so these will have to do for now til the newer ones come in. Interested in what you think of the overall design. _________________

Yes, its a 6 button pad, the directional arrows are hooked to the d-pad arrows and the top right is the X and the top left is the Tri. Like i said before, i can press it all day long in the menus and it works. but in the game i get nothing. Iasked my friend that used to build battle bot style robots and he cant even figure it out, i think im gonna have to start over _________________

(just an idea, the first thought is a good one to go with) _________________

to ddrhomepad,
i was looking @ your pad & it says to use 26 gauge sheet metal, but i was wondering if 22 gauge would work as well as the 26 gauge? |

My first contribution for the homepad community:
I redid the arrow graphics on the front page to have the correct "Show Me Your Moves" font...just check it out:
http://elektro.realitydns.com/ddrarrows/
You can put them on the front page if you would like _________________

Nope, no changed settings. I used my regular controller and it worked fine. As far as the controller itself, ive used a spare piece of wire to complete the circuit that way and it worked fine. Which would make me think that is the button, but if thats so, then why does it work in the menus? Bahhhh, Im just going to buy a new controller and see if that works, if not, anyone want to buy a wood and metal frame for a ddr pad? _________________

Hi Blade
I didnt catch all your post, but did are you using a ps(1 or 2)/pc converter (usb?). If so, there are quite a few that will not work with right+left / up+down combo's. two ways around this are
1. new converter.
2. rewire it. Use the X, O TRI, and SQR. for the up down left right this method i use all the time since i have an older ps/pc converter.
then its just a matter of reprogramming your pc game software to recognize the new keys.
if its something to do with your ps recognizing your board.. im stumped.
ps
I'll buy your frame if you buy all my controllers it took me to figure this out LOL!!! _________________
