Not speaking for the rest of my community, Roxor can come and gut our Extreme machine ANY time. This has some serious potential, no doubt.
And why would Konami bother to sue them? They don't give a crap about America, they no longer give a crap about DDR, why would they care about an American DDR knock-off (albeit a GOOD knock off).
But I think we need the answer to the real question thats burning on everyone's minds: If this is Stepmania (sorta), will it have Toasty? |
Konami tried to sure Andamiro because of Pump it Up.... but they didn't do their research to see that the game was copyrighted at a date nearly identical to DDRs... in other words... they failed...
But with this... I'm sure Roxor already had talks with Konami about it since it's running on DDR hardware... plus I like the idea of mines... and to anyone who says it looks stupid because it's not DDR : open your eyes, the life gauge placed on the side is better because you can actually glance at it while the arrows scroll up, the interface looks sleeker... mines are fun in Stepmania... so they shall be in ITG... I hope this doesn't fall victim to how some of the DDR players treat PIU here "It's not DDR, I don't want to play it." |

Actually, it's just running in a DDR-esque cabinet; it's not on DDR hardware. Look at the early pics...they've got a PC in the cabinet running Linux and the PC is the guts behind ITG.
After reading some thoughts/posts about the cabinet design, being sued for it, etc. I believe what I'm reading, which is that people (ie the arcade establishment owners/buyers) are free to do with a DDR machine whatever they want to, which is obviously true 'cause you see bootleg mix machines everywhere (local arcade I mainly go to has a bootleg Extreme)...plus like what was also mentioned...most mixes in the US are either bootleg or imported illegally...err, not necessarily "illegally" but the mix isn't supposed to be seen or played outside of Japan due to song licenses. _________________

Yeah I was there yesterday as well and the game is pretty fun. I love the Endorance course (Non-stop mix with trick Oni) but the song list is lack luster. DDR fan boys might hate it cause its not DDR but just throw it on Overhead mode and BAM! same game just with bombs and and arrows going everwhich way but loose. All in all, if your tried of DDR EX than you'll like this.
P.S. If you was there yesterday I was the short black guy with dark blue shirt asking question about the game. _________________

ITG looks awesome. I live the extra information, ranking for individual songs, charting stats for the songs, etcetera. Can't wait to try it, I hope that someday it comes to an arcade around here. |

OK, I have decided that I must play this game, but the chances of it coming to Delaware, or anywhere near Delaware, are probably just about zero. So....Anybody have any idea if a home verision is planned? Either that or anybody know how much Roxor sells the arcade version for? I already have a DDR cabinet, so I'd only need the PC and software. |

No final kits but on the roxor forums they are saying they'll be going for 2k for the kits which will basically be a computer in a box. They didn't say how much future upgrades will be. _________________

Ah ha. I must visit these Roxor forums. If this game is as good as it seems to be, and if there is no plan of a home port....$2000 ain't that bad. |

I'd just start with at least 5 of each Genre:
-Dance Pop
-New Wave
-Hip-hop
-Hard Rock/Grunge
-Classic Rock/Heavy Metal
-Soft Rock
-Techno
-Trance
-Video Game/TV/Movie Themes
-Speed Pop
and a compliment series or two to accompany Disconnected. Sure, people will flame it like PARA/TM/MAX stages, but it IS a GAME, and all games need their peaks. And I, given some creativity within them, actually LIKE the half-beat runs, and they are a necessary "stepping stone" between moderate and harder difficulties. I have full confidence in this project, and am curious to see how it goes.
Finally, don't be intimidated by EXTREME's or PIU 8th's tracklist length. It's only because they're in their umpteenth sequels, and backlogged stages. ITG will reach there as well, and likely quicker. Oh, and how about "Ghost Freezes"? They look like normal arrows, but they still act like freezes...
/EDIT: Interesting update, I hope.

that kind of makes no sense though, well it's difficult to find information that is complete an accurate about that and it's as simple as -
If one company makes say one of the first 3D fighting games (Virtua Fighter by Sega) and another later makes one (Tekken by Namco) Sega should go and sue them because?
If that were the case all these FF wannabes wouldn't be on shelves. |

At first, I hated this with the burnning passion of ten thousand white-hot suns, but the more I think about it, the more I kinda like it.
But a few things to fix:
-MORE E-ROTIC!!!!!
-Take away the |-|@X0RZS (hacked) look from the screens. They look AWFUL!!!
-Where is Aqua, DJ Sammy, and Sarina Paris?
-Please, PLEASE don't use a DDR cabnet (sp). I couldn't stand that.
-Don't make it go in reverse by default. That kinda sux.
I like the fact that we can request songs and there is a POSSIBALITY that it will make it.
The new arrows will take some getting used to, though.
I'm kinda on the fence about the mines, though. I mean, it's a cool thought to add arrows you have to AVOID, but that might make it harder for someone new to it.
That only thing I will miss from DDR is the J-Pop, and quirky pop tunes (i.e. Living in America, Waka Laka, Cartoon Heros, the Max brothers.. et cetra)
All-in-all, this look like a step forward for rythem games (alas, no more Bemani. It belongs to Konami) in America. It gives you artists that the main populous has heard of, with room to expand.
ITG (the new acronymn will take getting used to also) seems like a good thing foe music games, and I hope I can play on one someday.
The only sad thing is that DDR will be dead, and no more of it, ever.
Now, for predictions.
I predict:
-We (america) will get MANY mixes of the game, with console ports, and unique console games.
-Japan will go crazy over this, and import OUR machines to Japan.
-Japan will get 2-5 crappy mixes of this in the arcade and console COMBINED, and will import the games from us.
-After it dies here (not for a long time) it will continue in Japan, and people on ITGFreak.com forums will blast the US for not making more mixes. (like we're doing now about extreme)
DDR was my first music game, and will always be the one I compare every dance game to from here on out. Even if we do move to ITG, we will never forget DDR. So, in a way, DDR will never die, because it will live on in our memories forever.
