This thread is for u to describe how u evolved in ddr. Tell about all the practice and hard work u went through to become the DDR player u are 2day.
Myself: I started 2 years ago when my cousin introduced me to konamix on the ps1. I then got into it myself and I bought konamix and my own Dance pad. I played light mode for a few months then I moved on to standard. One day I traveled to Mulligans in Torrance and found a DDR Extreme machine. Since then I went to Mulligans every weekend and I practice everyday. Now I'm in Fontana going to Ontario Mills Gameworks which is where I play 7,8,and some9 footers. I'm still progessing until I can do 10 footers. well how about u.
Yes your story can be long. |

Well, I started out playing Beginner on an Extreme machine in Cedar Point. From then on, I took a whole summer break, and then played in the arcade at Century III, still on Beginner. I then bought DDR Ultramix for the X-Box and practiced avoiding going back to the middle in order to do Light. I can now do Light/Standard, and am working on passing MaxX Unlimited on Light. I'll update this later when I reach Heavy.
BTW, shouldn't this be in DDR Accomplishments? _________________

I forgot to mention that I have all US mixes except(disney).
Red Octane pad 2.0
Ultramix Bundle Pack
So I can pretty much practice at home for some time too. |

well lets see... i started playing about 6 or 7 months ago i played light and i was mad because i got tired from playing genom screams light. after a month i was playing like 3 standards but i didnt pass all the lights because they sounded kind of boring. once i consistantly passed max 300 on light i thought "ok next". this one day i played candy heart on heavy for some reason and i had good look and i passed it so yay for me! then i couldnt pass it anymore lol candy star became my favorite song on standard and i full comboed it alot. then my friend recommended that i try abyss, .59, and A on heavy as my first heavy songs and i passed them all on my first few tries (like on the 3rd, first on abyss). my first set involved lights, and stanrd. second set has heavy and light and standard maybe. after a while i started playing 5 and 6 and 7 and more sets, i went from 3 to like 10 in a few months, so im pretty proud of myself. now a days my favorite song is rythm and police the only problem is i cant pass it on heavy yet, but im getting there, theres only once part i get lost on now. first cata was matsuri japan!!!.lol nowadays i do catas in my last few sets because im all warmed up the problem is, im all tired up lol. i need a whole lot more stamina and im working on building that up. well thats about the jist of it sounds like you guys are doing pretty good also good job!!! _________________

It was sort of a steady stream of skill improvement. Like, Chrono Cross's level up system. My whore songs on konamix was B4U and Super star. Then Max US came out. It helped, but it was loaded with the worst songs imaginable. I played through them all, and acidentally chose heavy mode, and tried something, can't remember, and... boom. I was playing heavy. _________________

I started playing last Summer. I remember seeing a couple guys playing it at the movie theatre, and thought "No chance will I -ever- make a fool of myself like that!"
Well, I ended up going up there and playing it (because my Dad thought it looked fun), and loved it ever since. I started out with MAX2, and would spend about 2-3 hours every other day playing it. It took me a couple months to get off of Light mode, since I was too scared of half-steps. But, a guy came in, said "You know, you're too good to be playing on Light," and played a couple games with me, I started playing on Standard. Now I'm playing quite a few songs on Heavy, and *brag alert!* I played Matsuri Japan on Heavy, and did really good. I got a B, and the other day, got all Perfects except for 80 Greats!
My dad saw me play, and since he's been trying to excersize, decided to buy a metal pad so we can hook it up to the computer. So, we're waiting until his next check so we can buy one. |

i started after my school certificate (YR10) cause the guys in the grade above me were really into it and i thought it was pretty cool. so afterwards i started to get into it and i talked to dem about it. now after 6 months of playing i can A most of the 9 foot songs and am currently trying to do max 300. i tried today but i failed when i got to da freeze arrow part. i think ddr has been bebeficial to me cause it's a good thing for relieving stress jus playing hard songs =) |

I started out playing at school during Japanese club (about a year and a half ago). I hadn't heard of the game but my friend told me that I would like it. I couldn't even pass Ordinary World on light mode. That was when I decided that I HATED THIS GAME! But my friend told me that I'd get better at it so he told me to play Midnite Blaze on light (he thought a harder song might be more fun to try). I failed it but for some reason I liked it better than Ordinary World. I played a couple more times at various different Japanese Club meetings and slowly started passing light songs.
Then I went on vacation to Indianapolis and there was a Gameworks. I hadn't played DDR in months. They had DDRUSA and I did Stomp to My Beat and PASSED IT! That was when I became (literally) obsessed with the game. For Hankkah I got Konamix (I only had ps1 at the time) and in a month I was playing on heavy. Once I got ps2 I got DDRMAX2.
That's my story of going from bad (extremely horrid) to good! _________________

January 15, 2004 was my first day playing DDR ever. I started on light, about a week later I was trying Standard. About 2 weeks after that I could do pretty much any song I tried on Standard (except for Maxes and Paranoia Survivor max). I then tried Let's Groove on Heavy, almost passed it, did it one more time and passed it with a C. I then moved on to trying 7 footers on Heavy. I could pass alot of them, but when I tried Freckles, I entered the world of cross-overs, or turns and some call them. I wastched my friend do Freckles a couple times and said ot myself "hey, I can do this" Tried Freckles, and passed it. My next objective was gallops, that was actually pretty easy, so I tried Cow Girl, and passed it on my first try, my first 8-footer ever passed.
After that I moved on to the 8 footers like Spin the Disk, Holic and Twin Bee. This is after about a month and a half of playing. I then moved on to my first nine footer...Matsuri Japan. This was a hard one for me to start on, but I went on and did it over and over till I finally passed it. This helped me immensly, and afterwards I found out I could do alot of stuff I couldn't before. I passed songs like Afronova, Break Down, Rhythm and Police and Tsugaru on Heavy. Now I can do almost every 9 footer I try, there are still a few I'm working on a few more.
I just recently started doing doubles about 2 weeks ago, and I can do most 8 footers now on Heavy, my first song I passed on Heavy Doubles was Holic. I love that song. _________________

I started approximately a year ago when one of my friends brought DDR max to another one of my friends house. The first time I tried I did Remember you on light and I failed it miserably. Then I tried Cutie Chaser and seemed to do a little better but still failed. I played up until the end of the summer of 03 and was able to do some catas. Then I took a 3 month hiatus because my pad was broken and I didn't know anyone who played DDR at the college I go to. When I came back for winter break I decided I wanted to get back in to it because it's so awesome, so I bought an Ignition pad and went at it. Now I am able to do almost every cata(haven't tried cartoon heroes yet) and I can do max 300 and maxx unlimited at home (still no 10's at the arcade though, unless you count bag with speed mods ). |

I started playing in early March of this year. I've learned the game extremely fast IMO... I'm already doing all 9-footers, still working on the 10s. =) (Okay, the only 9-footer I haven't done yet is So Deep, but that is just hard)
I got into Standard mode when I was still in my first week, and I got into Heavy mode not too far down the line, maybe in my 2nd or 3rd week, and just continued to work on it. First Heavy song I could do was Let's Groove and now I can AA it every time, as well as many other 7 foot songs. (At least I get really close)
Hardest song I can do is Orion.78 Civilization Mix in Heavy right now. Burning Heat!, Paranoia Evolution, Matsuri Japan, and Afronova are also hard songs I've been able to do lately. Hardest song I've A'd on is Break Down! in Heavy. Every now and then I try Max 300 and Maxx Unlimited in Heavy, but I can't do 'em quite yet. But I've been learning very fast so I hope to get them down pat soon! _________________

I was born with a gift.. the gift of being a ddr player..
[/end of sarcasm and all the bs]
Actually I first tried ddr about a year or so ago.. got hooked immediately, went and bout konamix. And also a very crappy/cheap soft pad. I practiced every day pretty much until my confidence level got higher for me to try to play in the arcades. Then from there I just kept playing and also money helped arcade wise.
And now I'm sdg'ing heavy songs.. practice is your friend. Some people take ddr too serious though.. I guess I'm one of those people. Rehab helps. _________________

When I was around 10, a friend invited me over and said she HAD to show me this awesome game. I played, and like most new players, failed miserably. I kept the game in mind, though, and got DDRMAX in January 2004, about 4 years after my I first played it.
DDRMax didn't have beginner mode, so I was stuck playing mostly 1 or 2 footers the first day, but I practiced a couple hours each day and was ready to move up to standard after about three days of playing.
Standard was a lot tougher for me though, I hit a roadblock at six feet, which took a couple of days to overcome. I kept practicing though, and after about a week I made the move to heavy.
Heavy... yeah... it's crazy. I had no troubles passing anything until I tired my first 9, HVAM. lol, i failed in like the first half of the song. It took me another week to pass my first 9, then I turned to my next challange, Max300. My grades were also starting to get worse at this point because I had these crappy madcatz pads, so AAing anything over 7 feet just wasn't happening. I got some new pads, then started trying to AA a bunch of stuff before trying Max. After I AA'd HVAM, I though I was ready to try it out. Man, lol.. I was wrong. So I just kept practicing it, over and over, until at about the end of February I finally passed it! (with a C, but hey, I'll take it). Then I got Max2 and started working on crossovers, which I still suck at, btw. It took me about a few days to play all the songs on Max2, but I found it much easier than the original. Since I wasn't very good at this point, no one really knew I played, until one day a group of my friends invited me to a party, where they had DDR set up. They dared me to play Max300, so I did, and passed with an A. They said I had to come to the Arcade with them. This was about the beginning of March. Playing on the arcade was sooo different from playing on soft pads, which was all I was used to, so I didn't AA anything above 8 feet my first time, but eventually I got better, and discovered how great bar raping is I also got to try all the other 10 footers, and my new fav song became legend of max.
Well anyway, it's now aobout the third week of April, and I've moved on to doubles.. at this point I can't handle anything above 9, but I'm working on it.
Hell, who knows? One day I might be good at this game! |

How I evolved as a DDR player?
I started playing December 23, 2002 when my mom forced me to go to the arcade with my little brother. I saw the DDR machine and I was so excited I ran back to the video game store to return an item I had bought 3 minutes ago for money.
I started going every Sunday for about 6 hours and made some pretty good progress. I got the home version and advanced to Standard level of play in aobut four months. Then I took a two month break once I reached a plateau. I started beating heavy songs after the two month break and beat my first 9 over the summer of 2003(Insertion). I took another 3 months off after I reached another plateau and my playing ability increased again. As of now I have beaten 5 9 footers ( Xenon, Insertion, Orion.78, Irresistiblement, and Kakumei) and I am working on Dead End, Be Lovin', Drop Out, Electro Tuned, CSFILSM, and Tsugaru.
Hopefully I will be able to beat 10's soon! _________________

the first time i played was on either a max or 5th mix machine at Sakura con (april) of 2002. i played occasionally at tilt after that on beginner and light, but didn't get real into it until the next sakura con 2003 when i played a few light songs on the brand spanking new extreme machine they had. after that i bought DDRMax and played at home, occasionally going to the tilt arcade. it took me about 6 months to finally get the balls to try standard, and a week after that i was doing heavy. i'm at the 8-9 foot level now, still struggling with some catas but i love to play and i do it as much as i can _________________
