There's no need to share BitPim on AIM. It's freely available at http://bitpim.sourceforge.net . It's mainly designed for the LG VX4400 and VX6000, though it should work with most CDMA phones built around the Qualcomm chipset (i.e., Sanyo and possibly Audiovox phones with service through Verizon, Sprint or US Cellular). It's a great program for editing pretty much anything on your phone; all you need is a data cable (FutureDial data cables are available for a wide variety of phones at RadioShack for around $20). _________________

Is there any way for me to send files from a PC via text message to my Nokia 3595? Maybe an email or somehow through Yahoo! Messenger's SMS? It uses MIDIs, and I have no problems finding them. _________________

Upload your files to either www.myphonefiles.com or www.tagtag.com. Then direct your phone to the WAP sites, and transfer them to your phone.
BTW, I have a WAP site with Ringtones and Wallpaper that I use on my phone, the same Nokia 3595. No DDR midis, though, because I haven't found any exceptional ones. The address is: www.tagtag.com/kram
The Nokia 3595 is a decent phone, but the screen is not a standard cell phone screen size, so it's cumbersome in the software department. But who could complain, since I got my phone for free, and it has a color screen! _________________

WAP? Sorry, I can't do that. I'm not signed up for GPRS. I was hoping there was a way to send it as a text message from my PC to my phone. _________________

Converting MP3 to MIDI is a difficult and imperfect process. While MP3s, WAVs, OGGs, etc. actually store a complete waveform of the song to be played back, MIDIs are simply a series of instructions. The data in a MIDI file tell a synthesizer what instrument to play back, at what pitch and for how long. When you listen to a MIDI on your computer, you're actually hearing the song synthesized by your sound card based on the instructions in the file. Based on this, you can probably see how difficult it would be to convert something like an MP3 to MIDI. There are programs out there that attempt to analyze the waveform of an MP3 and put it into MIDI format, but they're seldom able to do so with any degree of accuracy. _________________

ehhh...i'm having a hard time cutting the songs i want for my ring tones down with the Anvil software...it seems so confusing Can anyone please post me some straight up instructions on how to use the anvil program to cut a song to the part in the middle that I want as a ringer (For example...the part that I want from the cowgirl ringer starts at 0:40:00 and ends at 1:08:16, but I don't know how to edit it to just save it as just that amount of the song) Help is greatly appreciated! |

Just an update:
The www.myphonefiles.com site is no longer free -- you now have to pay a minimum of $3 per month to download ringtones (at least this appears to be the case since I just signed up now).
(But I've found a temporary workaround (even though I'm probably going to pay for the site, so that I can upload stuff as well). |

I really wish someone would tell me how to edit the midi files so that I can get the certain parts of songs to use as ringers |

You guys should really just look into getting the Nokia 3300... doubles as an mp3 player... and you can set any wav file or mp3 as your ring tone.. ( for instance mine now is sakura and when I get a text message.. it's "It's-a me, Mario!") _________________
