We had them back when this forum was just a mod playground, but most of us agreed they suck.

I think you should include all of them and let people choose from them.

1) A lot of those are stock phpBB smilies. And they're ugly to boot, but that's already been said.
2) No, we have to give them an :emote: command. And we don't need tons of 'aliases' for E1.gif.
3) No, we don't need to give people more of a chance to smilie whore.

E9.gif you're funny! beerchug.gif to the good reply, though.

sorry, had to try out the "smile whore" reason. yeah, i can see why you wouldn't want that.

We have 54 emoticons as it is. If you need more than that you're free to use IMG tags yourself.

The ones that come with the phpBB board are kinda....lame. And the 'lol' one looks like its top lip is moving, not really laughing....

Besides, everybody loves the old UltraBoard smilies. We had to keep them.

I'll give you a cookie of you can find the one that's missing from the set.

I totally agree with all of you. I really hate those "stock" smilies. Other phb bb's use those. what's up with that? I'm wondering, did all of you mods and admins created the smilies we use in these fourms? Or where did you get them?

While we're talking about smilies, were the ones we have now made by some admin here, or were they "aquired"?

You know what's funny is... this was brought up in Southwest shortly after I joined.

It was the sex smilie right?
I know *where* to look for it roughly. But I don't remember usernames, which thread, or anything specific.

Do I get the cookie? I hope it's Oatmeal Raisin happy.gif.

I miss the animated shaking-my-head smilie. I think it's in iBulletin, I dunno. It just expresses so much more disdain than disgust.gif or disturb.gif do.

It looked like that, but it was animated and slowly shook its head side-to-side. I can't find it now.

EDIT: Here we go - I visited my old stomping grounds at ttlg.com, and found it:

Most of them are just ported from the old Ultraboard. The rest were probably downloaded from some smiley site.
