E2.gif I've done something stupid...

Ok, the cords on my BNS pad broke...is there any way to fix it or am I just plain screwed??

There was a crack in the acrylic and so I checked it, didn't know how much pressure I was applying to the arrow, and it jerked outta my hand and the cords broke...on TWO arrows...I was about to cry...

I know that the company wouldn't help, so either we get out hands dirty and try to fix it or we buy another one [which is prolly over my ma's dead body]

Plz help!! I am seriously in need of it!!

BNS PADS SUCK. Ok? I got my metal pad from Game Enhancer Canada about a year and a half ago and it hasn't had any problems yet. They're no more expensive than eBay pads and they work great. And for the price of a Red Octane metal pad, you can get a pad butilt exactly like the RO Metal pad with a bar like the arcades.

And, no, i'm not on commission.

edit: i just saw ngult's post, he's the guy i bought my pad from.

I don't think BNS metal pads suck, I love mine.
As for the pads with bars, for the love of god how many times does this have to be said...

Metal pads with bars are not sturdy. A person weighing over 100 lbs. on a metal pad with a bar weighing 40 lbs. is not a stable equation. You WILL injure yourself if you lean your entire body weight/mass on a metal pad with a bar in the back. It WILL tip over and you WILL bust your arse.

Standard physics and weight transfer...

Actually the metal pads with the bars weigh 60-70 lbs. This would seem like plenty of weight toward the front of the pad to support normal play with moderate use of the bar.

I would be more worried that the bar itself or where the bar is joined to the pad would bend.

I've been reading that people replace the foil tape setup with a piece of sheet metal instead. I went to the hardware store and there's a lot of different kinds of sheet metal. Is there any specific gauge or anything that you guys use or recommend? I think I heard that some of them don't conduct as well as others and I didn't know which one to go with.

mck, I assume that you do not have the "version 2.5" metal pad that they are currently advertising since you have had your pad for over a year.

I'm curious about these pads. The site claims "LED arrows which lights up when stepped on". I have seen other metal pads with LEDs along the edges of the panels. Do these pads actually have LEDs under the panels?

I don't suppose anyone with one of these pads would be able to take a picture of the lit LEDs? I would appreciate any other comments about these pads as well.

I have been using the BNS DX pads, and they work great with no problems, but I am seriously looking into metal pads now. I'm not sold on the Cobalt Flux, but I would like something that will last for a long time.

I used 30 gauge sheet metal, the type suggested in the mod. You could use a lesser gauge, but they aren't as durable i guess. I had a hard time trying to find 2'x3' sheet. I found/order one off of homedepot.com for $6 and shipping. And I ended up only using 2'x1/2' of metal.

LED arrows are mini square red lights on the outer sides of the panels. There are 3-4 on each side, can't remember, but they aren't anything fancy. They aren't like the onces in arcades that light up the whole center of the arrow.

Grrr... I posted this on April 1, so it got f'ing deleted!!! disgust.gif

I have a psx extendo cable, and a db-9 shell serial male cable that plugs into my MyMyBox pads. I lost the original cables that connect the pads to the playstation. I have attempted to my best ability to splice a new cable out of these two, but my efforts have as yet not met with success. Does anyone know how this can possibly be done? Or else, does anyone know where a replacement cable that will work can be purchased??? Heeelp.. :-(

True, I weigh 290 Lbs and if I were to lean my full weight back onto the bar of my pad I would probably snap the pad in half... However! I don't use the bar to lean on. To me it is there as a stabilizer, every now and again I will utilize the bar to help maintain balance and control. I love having the bar there and there is no reason not to have one. I am not sure if my pad is a Game Enhancer pad, but it LOOKS exactly like the ones displayed on their website. I love the pad and the bar is a nice little addition.

hey guys
i'm matt300. i got the v3.1 pad for christmas and it werks excellent! it is super sensitive, very durable, and it weighs like 70 pounds. i didn't get my pad from the game enhancer canada website. i got my pad from lik-sang.com. they only charge $109 for the pad, but it comes to 260 with shipping from japan. it does light up when you step on it, but not like the arcade.it has like 2 white strips on each one of the arrows and has like dot lights going up and down them, they're kinda funny actually. about the back bar, it all depends on you. if you screw the back bar in like really really tight, then you should not have any problems with it at all. the metal on the pad is not nearly as good of quality as the arcade, but it is very very good. if anyone wanted to know, i am 6'0 tall and i weigh about 200 pounds. also, i have 200 heavy AAA's on the arcade, so i think that i can give a good opinion on performance of this pad. by the way , i also do not reccomend playing on a metal pad to get better. it seriously throws your timing off if u use the home versions.

Anyone have pictures of what's inside a Cobalt Flux?

Is it basically Lexan on top of sheet metal which is attached with... Velcro? Then another contact on the bottom?

Hey, thanks! That's great.. it almost looks like I guessed. It's a fairly simple design. Did you take that apart just for the picture?

Anyway, I appreciate it.

I've noticed a few missing posts all over the place. If I had to guess, I'd say the April Fools thing erased more than it should have.

I've a quick question. I know that everyone's saying that CF > RO > Rest.

However, many of the pads mentioned are -not- shipped internationally (or at least to Australia) which has really narrows my selection down to the pads listed on Lik-Sang. Right now it seems like a feasible option because it's fairly cheap ($160 Aussie) and the shipping is the cheapest i've seen so far ($200, which actually is more than the pad <_<).

Anyway, the reviews on Lik-sang and playasia are both okay, but i'm guessing people that write reviews there have only had the pad for a short period of time. So my question is.. for a person who weighs ~48kgs, close to 100lb or so, will the acryllic arrows be sturdy, and will the contacts be okay?

Secondly, if the arrows break, or the contact system goes a bit fuzzy, how much money will it actually cost to fix it?
