It's fun, it impresses a lot more people in the arcade than other games do, and the music is cool. |

Quote: | I play roughly four times a week, sometimes a little more. What motivates me?
1) The Score. First and foremost I want to AAA every single song in the game. Then I want to AAAA every nonstop. Then AAAA every oni. Then maybe I'll feel that I've mastered the game. I don't really know why I feel this way, I just really want to master it.
2) The People. I've met a lot of cool people through DDR, several friends and of course everyone on my team. It's definitely been a positive social event, that has allowed me to meet smart, good people who share my interests.
3) The Excersice. I've heard this point mentioned, helps keep me in shape and is good aerobics for Kenjutsu and Pitching.
4) The Fun. DDR is very fun for me, the most satisfying feeling, for me, being when I AAA a song and know I'm done, I've mastered it totally, I never have to play it again. It's fun achieving, it's fun feeling like your getting better and it's fun seeing that AAA.
5) The competition. By this I mean NNR, my friends challenging me, friendly rivalries, etc.
6) The tournaments (other people's). It's fun showing off my skill, meeting good people and working toward a goal. Not to mention traveling to new places.
7) The tournaments (my own). It's really fun running tournaments, seeing people getting better and seeing the community strengthen.
That's probably the rough reasons I play. If I come up with anything more I'll post it.

Alright... you guys feel so confident about you reason. Thats good. Now visualize this...
The fad is gone. No one plays DDR anymore. Now everyone who plays Ddr is just for fun. Everyone is a prep and ddr machines arent even many anymore. You harness all this skill in your legs but no one cares. Will you still play DDR at home?
And why? _________________

that's what DDR is like in my town. i do it for the excersize and for fun, not for recognition. if i was doing it for recognition then i would try to be the best, but i don't. i just try to challenge myself. _________________

Yes, because it's fun. It's sorta like playing a favorite old NES game, they may not be popular anymore, but they're still fun to play. _________________

As for not losing weight, your body burns fat and calories when your even just sitting on your buttocks, and besides, any activity that causses persperation is healthy, that is unless your sweating causs its hot. And its for entertainment, thats the main goal in life, entertainment, at least it should be. Thats whats really wrong with this world, not enough people having a good time. And as for bieng "Just a fad" i dont think it is really a so called "Fad" its just a game alot of people play and enjoy, Its not like it can get old after a while, unless of course your really really good, but bye then everyone enjoys watching. So your post is void. _________________

And we now have a compilations of reasons to play this game!
I thank you all for your cooperation. I wanted others to see a reason to play this game even in the end of it. I pray this doesnt die off but we all know things must come to an end.
I just pray that when its no more a revolution, you guys will all remember why you played this game in the first place and keep on dancing.
Dont let the Revolution Stop. _________________

I play it because I like the game. If the whole world hated DDR, I'd still play it.
Seriously, from the way I am seeing your first post, forget how DDR's reputation is, or how it compares to other things...play it for your own personal enjoyment, not because of some stupid implication that it's gonna die, or that it doesn't fullfill enough standards to truly stand out from other video games... |

No you whoring fruit! I wrote it so people could understand why they should not let anything except from their personal reasons to make them continue playing this game. I said that somewhere... and Liquid Zero ended that perfectlly.
Now for heavens sake stop pestering me you idiot! _________________

Regenesis wrote: | Yeah, really, DDR is so pointless. All you do is step on some arrows for a few minutes and you don't even get anything for it. Come to think of it, you don't really gain anything from playing any video games, so you might as well not play anything. In fact, never do anything unless it has an immediate, tangible benefit to you. But really, no matter what you do to improve yourself, you're still going to die, so you might as well just go kill yourself now and get it over with. |
Now WHY!? does everyone use the excuse "Just go and Kill yourself now" I mean you are encouraging youth deaths, as well as more depression in the world! Yes, we are all going to die, EVENTUALLY. And it may seem to some people that DDR and all video games are "pointless" but the game was made for something right? or else they wouldnt have made it. I see many of mi friends lose weight, gain friendships, and some a smile that you usually cant get out of them, but do when they get a double "AA". I'm not drowning mi opinions on your's, just stating that "Just go and Kill yourself now" is a bad way at looking at life. _________________
