You can access the dancers (PPA) during regular game mode too. You go into Para Para mode and then at the song selection screen, press the Triangle button. A list of mods will pop up. You want to turn on the "P-Movie" function. Find the option that says "FULL" in backwards lettering, like it was in a mirror. (Reversed video, that way the arm motions follow the arrows). Then exit the mod menu. When you play through your songs, you'll be able to follow the dancers on the screen. They are live action dancers, not CGed girls.
Also, if you select the "MD" option, you get to make a 3 song Nonstop Megamix, where you can pick any song in the game in any order. There are around 45 songs total. This includes the songs like Celebrate Nite, Dynamite Rave (the original DDR version), Kiss Kiss Kiss (Super Euro Version). NOTE: These 3 songs are NOT playable in Para Para mode, only in Freestyle.
Also, for anyone who's having problems with their sensors always reading someone holding their hand over it, you need to adjust the dials on the actual sensors that aren't working (there will be a screen when you start up that has some of the sensors going "NG!" or something to that effect. Those are the sensors that need to be adjusted. You can adjust the lasers between a height of 20cm to 170cm. Turning the sensor dial to the LEFT shortens the sensor range, turning the dial to the RIGHT heightens it. Adjust accordingly to your height and the height of ceilings and stuff.
(Wow. I sound like a technician.)
And on the question of my favorite PPA...that would be Richie. (If you dunno who that is, look at my avatar!)

That's for the PS2 version though.
The arcade version doesn't have movies in the backgrounds. You need a separate video unit for that.
Also, 2nd Mix has CG characters doing the routines in the background. But it sucks if you're trying to learn a routine (makes the routines look awkward, and you can usually tell who learned from the machine, and who learned from a PPA video). _________________

That's what someone asked earlier in the thread though. About how to access the movies on the PS2 version.
I know about the CG'd dancers on 2nd Mix. But since there isn't a PPP 2nd Mix around here unless I drive 7 hours, I wouldn't know too much about that. _________________

Hold either the select or start button down, I forget which one (not both).
As for adjusting the sensors, I forgot where I read this, but the best way to do this is to maximize the sensor range (so all the sensors say NG), then start turning the dial the other direction until the sensor stops flickering. That way you know you have the maximum range with the sensors, without worrying about missing because the range might not be strong enough. _________________

But you should only adjust the sensors if you really NEED to. They are extremely fragil and turning them wears the plastic down as well as the parts inside. If the sensors can recognize your motions right out of the box then leave them as they are. |

i have a question about the DVD unit. at a local arcade they have 2 PPP's, one is borrowed (2nd mix) at mitsuwa in illinois, and they have hte first mix there. Well, they kept the 2nd mix dvd in the cabinet because the videos look better. Is it true that the first mix (or 1.1) DVD looks like they are playing in there living rooms? _________________

Tomo: Uh, I have no clue WTF you're trying to say. Living rooms? Video?
The video for the video unit (for PPP 1.1 or 2nd Mix), the PPA are performing at Club Velfarre, in I believe all the videoes (I'm not sure about the older ones like O Sole Mio).
Fighter: Really? I've had my sensors for years, I've used them in various rooms, been to like 6 states, and like 20 different houses/dorms, adjusted them a LOT, they still pick up perfectly fine. Hell, I've even dropped them a few times on accident, and it still works perfectly fine (I have a few pics of SSS's I've gotten somewhere on my HD~). _________________

Yeah, everbody I've talked to says that their controllers broke easily and they had to replace them. Maybe they were just too afraid of adjusting the sensors, I don't know. Personally I'd just drive over to Arcade Infinity and play. By the way, I saw their PPP 2nd mix on Ebay again. |

Why did they buy another one after they sold the first one? This is very dissapointing cause AI is the only place I know of with a 2nd mix. |

IMHO, if you're paying over $3000, you're getting ripped off.
(I'm too lazy to check AI's listing on eBay =P) _________________

Hey guys, just wanted to say that there is a Para Para machine at Tilt Arcades in the West Covina Mall. Its only 25 cents for 6 stages...thats a lot. I'm always there every Sunday from like 1-6PM...and sometimes on Saturday 1-6PM so yea come n play! I really want to see more people play that game...the only reason Tilt is like keeping it there because my friend that works there and I (I do not work there lol) are the only ones that play that game (literally) and so the reason for keeping it there...I guess we've been feeeding enough money for the machine =D. Well anyways, it needs more people...any freestylers or something?? I've seen other people also play, so total there are like 5 people that play....more people please! Anyways...hope to see ANY of you guys there n just stop by n say hi...I'm usually the one freestyling on it so yea. =D

Are you sure? There is no such thing as 6 stages on any PPP machine. |
