They couldn't steal their own song. The PARANOiA section in Max. is making a point. PARANOiA (180) was the hardest song in DDR 1st mix. The kind of song people would look at and say OMGWTF like people look at PSM-oni these days. The opint konami made is that they used the hardest song of DDR1st as an *easy rest section* of the new hardest song, emphasising it's difficulty.

hmm...good point. i've never thought about it that way. still, they could have just given us the good old freeze stop instead of taking a whole part from a song and copy/paste the steps onto max. yes i know the freeze is in 3 songs too but its like a max trademark. inserting paranioa music into a max song is just weird.
a lot of people seem to like bag. i like it cuz its amazing how they managed to make a scottish pipe thingie sound good. the naoki screams in the middle were just weird.
also i realized that i not only like sakura for the music but also for the background. *cute girl* yay!  |

Outer Limits is on Ultramix as a part of Song Pack 2
it's 348bpm from what i remember. 348 or 342 one of those...

Even though I can't clear any of the 10 footers to save my life (just yet), but my favorite 10 footer to listen to is Sakura, followed by Max 300, and Maxx Unlimited. I like PARANOiA and PARANOiA Rebirth, but I have as of yet to hear PSMO, sooo... yeah...

I really hate Outer Limits for some reason. As for its BPM - its listed BPM in Ultramix is 342, but its real BPM (as in iidx) is 171. Just like the listed bpm for bag in DDREx is 65 but it really runs at 130bpm (confirmed by 9th style).
I hear that Outer Limit's steps aren't so great though; I need to find me a copy of Ultramix and see for myself. |

MaxX Unlimited is the runner up.
Legend of Max has coolest steps.
MAX. is the scariest (U1 did his job well)
Evilest non-PSMO run: end run in Paranoia Respect.

Sakura was my best but lately... after watching this downloaded video of two guys playing DDR on versus mode... I have been looping Legend of Max in my head...
It has the best start in any DDR song ever... and then it goes full 10-step with the words LETS FLY in demonic dark voice.
Besides that the Max series are my best series.

My favourite is probably MaxX. It's the sort of melody you'd expect to hear in a final boss fight, which is pretty appropriate. The backgrounds are also really great (massive lightning storm effects all the way through) and it's pretty great to listen to just by itself.
Paranoia Respect; the calm section near the end before all hell breaks loose has awesome music, effects and steps (esp on Standard)
Then LoM. Doesn't quite have that climatic feel that MaxX has but it's still pretty good.
Sakura I'm a little impartial towards. It's a nice melody but it's seriously overrated, at least in my opinion. And it waters down the standard for ten foots as well, I always find myself qualifying any statement about ten foots with "excluding Sakura".
Ten foots that I really don't like would be Max300 and the ParSur's. Sorry, you can argue that there might be a tune there but you can't really say it has any harmony to speak of, or much of a structure. |
