Ok, I have two new BNS style metal pads. They work perfectly on Ultramix for XBox, and I'm connecting them to my computer through a dual USB RedOctane adapter that I just got 2 days ago. YES, I put in the code, and my computer always recognizes the pads when I test them in
Control Panel -->Game Controllers. The buttons are also mapped correctly in StepMania 3.9 alpha 10.
My problem is, after a couple of songs, my computer stops recognizing the pads completely. Could it be a bug in Stepmania, a problem with my USB Adapter, my Pads, or all three? Perhaps a different version of Stepmania would fix the problem.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? |

When the steps aren't being recognized, are you sure dance mode (axis are mapped to button) wasn't de-activated? I have a dual super box w/ code activation. I am able to go through numerous songs w/o that problem happening. But when it does happen, I notice my bar dropping and suddenly FAILED pops up. I then find out the directional arrows aren't registering b/c dance mode was turned off. Now I know there was no way I could of pressed start+select+up and the same time for 3 seconds. I don't play solo either. I'm thinking that there a certain combo of steps or something that mimics the activation of the code.
I have Stepmania 9 btw, so it may be different case for you. But this problems rarely happens to me even after 20+ songs... |

I do believe that I have de-activated the axis-off code somehow. When I fail a song because this happens, I can reenter the code and the controller will work again.
Does anyone know if this is a fixable problem, or should I get a new USB adapter? |

Does this happen in the same controller port and/or usb port (switch it up)? Maybe try the older version of stepmania and see if it occurs. If all else fails, get a new adapter. |
