Your controller is great, but I'd rather have one that only lit up when you hit it...

That's simple enough just wire them so when the contact from the button being pushed sends the signal to the 12-volt. Use the metal spring as a "stopper" and work from there. It makes the button when it's NC(Normally Closed) to not light up then when you press it NO(Normally Open) it does. Never knew the arcade PNM were like that because I've never seen one. I like them better all lit.

Let me explain:

When you press the button a spring hits the contact of the microswitch and tells the game to register a hit. If you come off the terminal from the light switch and wire down to the spring the connection is not "flowing" until you press the button. Really really easy. I'll write up how to do it shortly. My arcade cabinet is coming in today 3/2 so I'll be busy for a while.

Do the arcade buttons really light up at all? I haven't seen a machine, but the only videos of arcade play I've seen don't have light-up buttons. I would think such a thing is distracting, too o.O

i wouldn't think so, seeing as pretty much EVERY bemani game has at least something that flashes when struck.

Is there a way to use the battery on a real ASC to get the thing to light up? If its difficult to set up I'd gladly send it off to Ransai or DA to get it to work.

They do light up, but they're not so bright as to distract when playing. As with all arcades, the lights go out a lot.

Hi everybody

After seeing the Ransai Controller I am SO ready to get into Pop'n Music.

I just don´t know where to start...

Should I start with Best Hits... 8... or 9 ?

I have played DDR for 3 years, and really like the Pop'n tunes in DDR Extreme.

I can see that a lot of these songs come from 8 - but is 9 better ?

Please help E1.gif

Thanks from Soren, Denmark

Both 8 and 9 are phenominal. Either would be a good choice to start with. Don't do Best Hits first. While BH does have a good song selection, its about half the size of that of 8 or 9.

Thanks !

I don't read Japanese at all - so will that give me problems with 9 ?

I read somewhere that there is some kind of cave game included - is that playable without knowing Japanese ?

If you mean Gambler Z, it's rather self-explanatory. Just roll dice and try to get the highest number you can.

But yeah, don't expect any version you get to be friendly to non-Japanese readers. It takes a while to get used to.

If you just care about songs on pop'n that have appeared on Extreme, here are the PS2 vers they appear on...

White Lovers: Appears on pop'n 7, pop'n 8
Love Love Sugar: Appears on pop'n 8
Mahou no tobira: Appears on pop'n Best Hits
Daikenkai: Appears on pop'n Best Hits, pop'n 8, long ver on pop'n 9

And some crossovers...

Pink Rose: Appears on pop'n 7, pop'n Best Hits
Candy heart: Appears on pop'n 8
321 Stars: Appears on pop'n 8
Jet World: Appears on pop'n 8, pop'n 9
Colors: Appears on pop'n 9
Absolute: guitar ver on pop'n 9

Wow - thanks for your very fast responses...

It is morning here in Denmark - so I thought it would be in the middle of the night in the US E1.gif

What about the difficulty in the 2 games - do they both have beginner mode ?

Hmm... I guess I will have to get both 8 and 9 - and the Ransai Controller.

Thanks a lot !

Both have beginner mode. Unlocking stuff in 8 will be a pain in the buttocks unless you atleast make an attempt to learn katakana, because it displays your goal you have to complete for the round usually in katakana. Some times theres little english like "Hi2~4", but not a lot. Plus finding songs in 8 and 9 is a lot easier if you know katakana. Its not necessary but it helps ALOT.

Hurray !

My order is finally on it´s way...

For my first Pop'n Music I decided to purchase the limited edition collection of Pop'n Music 9.

I have also ordered the Ransai Controller - so everything is Pop'n Wonderful.

How much of a difference is there between Ransai's and DesktopArcade's controllers, other than the 50 American in the price?

As far as I've seen and heard, none. And judging by buttons used (which are the same), I'm guessing they cost the same to build as well. If I were Scott I'd be adjusting that price for potential new customers ~_^

I might stop by Anime Boston to try out the DA and compare it to my Ransai, but since I didn't pre-register, the chances are slim to none E15.gif

Wow, there are three ASC's available now? I can safely say that the Ransai is just about on par with the Konami one, but I've yet to play on a D.A. one. I'm pretty eager, actually... Like StarCreator said, I'd expect a Ransai price drop soon...

Not to say anything in particular about the competition, but quality. Better materials, better workmanship, better design. Getting flashier graphically; watch for updates. In short, we're not planning on a price drop soon, but be assured that we're working our damndest to make that extra $50 investment absolutely worth it in order to give you the best Pop'n controller you can find, anywhere. Oh, and ours light up now. ^_^

I have played on Desktop Arcade's Pop'n Music ASC and it is awesome. I see no difference between my real konami pop'n asc and DA's pop'n controller.

Here is a pic of an old prototype and one of my friends standing on it to shows its very stable.

For the 200 bucks, its well worth it.

I borrowed Pop N 6 and a homemade controller from a friend and I was wondering if anyone knows how to unlock stuff on 6

I know I unlocked 1 song for sure but every single play theres the same 3 songs classified as secret. Free mode has lots of secret songs unlocked but is there any way to make them appear in arcade mode
