which Bemani game will get "flagship status" provided the fact that DDR is on hiatus and other franchises got pushes?
I'd love to hear it from your point of view. _________________
BeForU was easily the heart and soul of DDR, until someone in Konami thought that it's a threat to the current structure (read: Konami's blatant overfunding of IIDX/pop'n). |

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Popn or IIDX both have a possibilty of coming next.
IIDX has more music the average american would like, BUT, its insanely hard for the typical americans attention span and might be written off.
Popn has a very easy learning curve and can be gotten into quickly (I was playing some semi hard songs my 3rd or 4th time playing at the arcade.), but the game is very Japanese and would probably would require major overhauls of the songs in games.
Dont get your hopes up for either coming here tho
(We were talking about the games coming to america right? If not Popn already dominates in Japan) _________________

i would say pop'n, if it's not already got this status. unlike iidx, they're more than willing to keep pumping out the CS games like no-ones business, and because of this are up to date.
iidx on the other hand, has a more slightly more elitist fanbase, and judging by the amount of persuasion required to get konami to even release 7th style CS (bearing in mind 10th AC is now out), they've proved that it wouldn't take a lot for them to drop the home titles completely. and they've already killed off BM / BMIII :\ |

Drummania and Guitar Freaks already seem to be the next most common series (here in Michigan, at least). They have lots of rock, and Americans like rock.

Uh, Pop'n Music pretty much HAS been the "Flagship" game in the Bemani series in Japan for a while.
If you're talking about the US (which DDR is the flagship because, well, it's the ONLY bemani we got besides K-Rev), then after DDR dies here they'll probably move onto Karaoke Revolution.
But in Japan, it's safe to say DDR never really was the "flagship" game in the Bemani series. I'm pretty sure it's always switched off between Beatmania/IIDX and Pop'n Music, as they were the first two in the Bemani series. _________________

Well if you look at what gets bought mostly here in the US for the PS2 is
1.DDR
2.Karoke
3.BM IIDX
So with no real Karoke arcade units existing, Im guessing that BM IIDX is going to make a huge fanbase if Konami pushes it in more arcades/makes home units available. |

[agree]I totally agree with you, I see a lot more people play Drummania and Guitar Freaks than Beatmania, mainly because they're both so easy to pick up, and more importantly are fun[/agree] _________________

You DO know that Konami Of America's arcade branch was closed 2 years ago, right?
Konami ONLY pushes home versions towards the US market. So Karaoke Revolution is really the only other Bemani to consider, as KoJ currently makes very little money off the US gamers that import IIDX. In the US, IIDX is really nothing more than a cult game we here on DDRfreak, Bemanistyle, and the other boards play. Outside of here, mainstream America doesn't even know what Beatmania or IIDX is. Hell, there are only around 14 IIDX machines in the US, as it is. _________________

I'd probably say none. The rest of the games don't have a physical gimmick, and when you look at all of the people doggy about the price of the Steel Battalion controller, you should immediatly realize that most of the games don't really have a place here. Yes, GF DM feature more "Americanised" music, but I doubt either would succeed since the initial investment might be a little pricey.
As for the Japan-flagship game, it's Pop'n. My friend Daigo was there two months ago (he's there winters and summers) and said IIDX, GF and DM get some attention, but Pop'n Music is the most popular Bemani, and one of the most popular arcade games in general. Same went for last summer. However, he said that DDR did have a pretty good peak and he remembered seeing as many 4th Mix Plus machines as he sees Pop'n 10 ones now. It hasn't gotten crazy amount of attention for a while now, though. _________________
