Question about the Super Dual Box that RedOctane sells:
Going to probably return this thing, I'm a new ddr player and I can tell things just aren't syncing up right with it... I've read about the up start and select trick tried it dunno if it worked really or how often I'm supposed to do it... how does that work is it a toggle or if it's on it's always on? Also heard about the joytokey trick which seems to work at first then it seems like freeze arrows stop working. Wondering because I have to deal with this for a lil while till I can return it, ordering 2 new bns dx pads and gonna probably get an ems adapter soon after those arrive for 2 players.
Read through most the thread sorry if I missed this but it's too too long, thanks in advance! |

I have a Dual Box, and I found it was a little tricky to use until you understand how it works.
You can "test" if it's working in the Controller settings in the Control Panel. If the axes have been disabled (start+select+up), the arrows will register as red blinking buttons in the test menu (I think #2, 3, 4, 5?). It resets back to axes ENABLED every time your computer starts (so you have to do it each time you start your computer).
Also, JoyToKey will NOT work with any USB converters.
I hope that was helpful. _________________

So yeah I have that Super Duel Box and I thought it was worthless but I just found out that code today, so I'm gonna try it tonight when I play. Hopefully it's a new enough model. =P _________________

Update: Got my bns dx pads, these things are nice =P. Using the serial adapter that they came with and that nt proggy and it's working great. Ordered a EMS adapter for pnp ease, gonna return the stuff I bought from red octane... still couldn't get it so the pad worked right even after everyone's suggestions. Saw no reason to keep an adapter that requires a special code to work anyway when the other one is about the same price. |

I also got the single cable converter to the printer port, but I can't find the drivers for it. I've clicked on a lot of the links (not the ones for pictures) for the drivers in this post, but I've been getting 404'd. After I get the drivers, how do I install them? Is there an .exe file in there? If not, what do I do? _________________

It looks like aldos site went down, the direct page for the nt pad drivers is http://www.ntpad.com.ar/ (don't forget the .ar). Installation is easy just double click to install then go to control panel, game controllers and make sure you disable the axis for dance controllers.
Update: Just got the EMS controller and tested, seems to work great, didn't try using 2 pads yet but might mess with it later. I'm not good enough to really do doubles yet =/. Very responsive, lil freaky though cause the thing is mainly made for gun controllers for the ps2 but does double duty for pc as the box says. Oh well, works great so far.
Edit: oh and one quick comment

In fact it does work, however as stated throughout the threads it is NOT a good idea to use it because it won't really fix the axis problem. If you completely unmap the keys in stepmania and use the prog to map to the keyboard it will work, and does feel maybe a tad bit more isolated, but it still won't work the way it should. I tried it out just because I wanted to test it before I sent the one I got from redoctane back, figured what did I have to lose... still waiting on a return shipping label btw. |

DONT ORDER AN EMS USB2 ADAPTER
because more then likely it will slightly lag for each step you step on. I have a cf pad and the ems usb2 and im running winxp and it registers steps slightly late. and I dont know wat the exact global gap settings I need to implement are....sumbody tell me what I should put in for that plz |

The timing seems right on to me with my bns dx pad... think it all depends on what cpu you have and if you have anything else running in the background. Make sure you disable virus scanners and programs before starting stepmania... as for the gap, that's going to change for every computer so you'll have to experiment. Maybe if you posted your specs someone might have a similar setup that could comment... if your comp's super fast and nothing's running though, dunno :\. |

|
|
I hava a couple of MadCatz Beat Pad Pro pads and have not found any information other than "These pads don't work with this adapter" etc. - does anyone have one of these pads and have successfully connected them to a PC - USB or Parallel ? What specific adapter did you use ?
I have heard mixed reviews of these pads - they are not the cheaper walmart ones - they are sold at EB, Gamestop etc - they're black.
If anyone has any specific information on these pads WORKING with adapters (or not working with specific brands of adapters) I (and all the other Beat Pad pro owners scouring forum threads and seraching for "madcatz", "beat pad" + "usb") would be forever indebted to you |

|
|
Just tried out my new Lik-Sang bought BOOM (GIC Actually) PSJoy PSX->USB adapter with my MadCatz Beat Pad Pro dance mat.
Sorry to say that these two are not compatible.
The adapter perfectly recognizes everybutton on my Sony Controller, but sadly does not register any input from my dance mat.
Oh well. At least we can chalk up another incompatibility and hopefully save some other beat pad pro owners some time and money.
Looks like I will be buying a new, more compatible mat real soon. (dying to play Stepmania with a pad) |

What about the new v3.1 PS2/USB adapter by BNS?
Its recent (within the last week) and it says "SUPPORTS DDR COMBO MOVES" all over the place....
Could they have remapped the arrows? |

Hey I got my V2.0 dual PS2/USB Adapter (not 3.1) yesterday and I actually got it to work perfectly.
I know everyone has been saying that it maps buttons to axis automatically and irreversably, but I got it to work fine in DDR USA for PC. It WAS mapped to axis, but I just went into options and mapped each arrow to buttons instead. Went from x/y to 1,2,3,4...etc.
So at least for games with the option to map them it shoudl work fine. |
