First off, I'll point out that I own DDRMax 2 for PlayStation 2, but have never played any of the arcade versions of DDR. (I gotta go to Park City Mall sometime.)
Harrisburg East Mall has a DDR-like game called "Techno Motion." It seems to be something of a DDR spinoff. The song list is completely different from any DDR mix I've heard of, and it offers 8-panel play, as well as 4- and 6-panel, and double. The rating system isn't like DDR at all either; I played on Normal, and quickly looked at the difficulty of the hardest song Normal Mode offered. 12 diamonds.
I can't rightly recall the name of the company behind it at the moment.
Could anyone tell me if any of you have played this game before, and confirm (as I believe already) that the techniques for playing it are the same as the techniques used in DDR?
What's your take on the game? _________________

Yeah...it's ok, but it's definitely not as polished as DDR or Pump, and I don't like it very much. I s'pose it's ok if it's the only thing in your area. And everyone tries 8 panel at least once out of curiosity. There's no 16 panel doubles though. _________________

I think it was F2(?) System who made it.
We have one in our mall. It's broken, and with 2 Extreme machines, it doesn't get played. I dun play either since we have other Bemani. It's alright for a good laugh at the intro movie with the really scary lady. _________________

I hate that game with a passion so intense, it could consume several small countries (or one meduim sized). I hate it because it is the only dancing game near me, unless I feel like a half-hour drive, and it's just so bad! Bad music, bad arrows, bad everything! _________________

I can't play arcade DDR myself without an hour's drive, so don't feel so bad. Thankfully I took care of that by going to Park City Mall on Saturday.
But aside from that, indeed, Techno Motion is my only real option. And after a second look, I can't believe I compared it (at all) with DDR! DDR is so much better!
Oh well, maybe if I poke and prod enough they'll bring DDR to Harrisburg East Mall. You never know. _________________

What bugged me was the fact that Down+Up jumps looked like gallops. I waas never sure whether to try hitting them ogether or separatly. |

Umm I liked some of the music on Technomotion, never got to play it though... but I guess with the programs people made I could stick the good songs on Pump it Up (the ones that F2 Systems didn't already place in the Extra Mix that Andamiro developed with them. |

You mean the Techno Motion logo is used in Stepmania... because it was used in TM first! |
