if anyone wants to take the heir to the ddr throne please provide me with advice on how to make a hard pad somewhat like the CF2 that just came out with all nine foot platforms that function for Pump it Up and DDR. I plan on making a nice pad here and publish it on the net to how I acheived it. Thanks, peace.

Um...can't you just create a normal home-made pad but also create a panel in the center just like the other arrow panels and solder the wire to R1 on the controller?

If you do it for both pump and ddr, one of them wont be able to be right were it should be because the arrows would overlap.

As all (or most) know ddr has the all the panels the same (afaIk)
But on pump the corner arrows go back more then the normal arrows on the ddr pad so it will overlap...

now you can still do both, they just wont be exact...

that would be a very simple tweak of the Riptide pad design - all steps instead of blank panels.
if you don't know what I'm talking about, search for it (on the forum). Do SOME work to find out...

this is UNTESTED, but makes sense.

not too sure how the controls in the game work BUT, in theory

*Rip open a ps2 controller and look at how it's been wired. Swipe out the board to use in your mat.

*cut the 9 panel slots in your frame, and use pressure switches to activate each panel.

*wire the pressure switches to the board

This is basically using the idea that I want to use, and in all logic, it makes sense that it'll work. (I plan to use a sheet of Lexan for the panels)

I have replaced my old board on my ddr pad with a ps controller. Works fine, plus I have the r1 l1 r2 l2 start select and all that good stuff to route to other buttons. You can do 9 buttons using a PS controller, like wardrich said.

EDIT : I'm using stepmania, that's why this worked. I dont know about console games.
