My pads are at my friend's house right now, and he only has carpet, so I've been playing DDR on carpet.. It's okay.. It's not slipping much, but I'm just wonderign.. How badly will it slip on tile?? And what mod will stop the slipping from there?? I know the chairmat mod especailly is for carpet... So, any tips from tile DDR players? |

when I used to use soft pads, and I brought DDR to a friends house, we played on hardwood flooring. It didn't slip like it did on carpet, it just hurt your feet (because you still had to wear socks) |

yes - because carpet gives while hardwood floor is totally flat. Just because it's slicker doesn't mean the pads slide MORE than on carpet. They slide much less.
and I did have dumb 3rd party pads. |

I figure something like this would cause the tile to crack. I guess it depends on what ddr pad you are using. _________________

Fry's Electronics used the official Konami pad before it was taped down. When I used it, it slipped, but not enough to mess you up. It might've moved an inch or two at the most. |

Well, they dont have the official konami pad here.. Will it help if i put a peice of rug under the dance pad, then place it on the floor? So it would be dance pad -> rug -> tile?? would that help???? (btw i have the crappy madkatz ones) |

Try the webby-type stuff you can by in the flooring sections of home-improvement stores to keep rugs in place. It's not perfect, but it does cut down on the slipping a lot, at least on carpet (should be even better on tile). |

I play on tile everyday in my house. It deosnt crack. The mat deos slip a little but never gives me any serious probs and i have 3rd party mats. It's not exactly the best but i still have just as much fun as in the arcade. Im thinking of doing that soft pad mod where you basicly tape it to wood. =) _________________

Yes, I play on tile with my home built metal/composite pads (my house has nice white tile floors).... Of course they weigh about as much as the arcade, but still didnt want it slipping around screwing the tile up, so I put some rubber stripping (3/16" thick) around the parimeter, and a few strips of it in the middle on the underside of the pad (mounted them with industrial grade contact cement)... there is no more sliding, and it wont damage the floor. |

Thanks for the answers, but I'm waiting for my solution to come to my house. I was using Mad Catz.. And now, I'm buying 2 BNS pads. They have their own non-slip, and each pad weighs about 10 lbs, so.. I'm assuming it's going to slip alot less...
Oh, and I think that the 1 inch foam insert they have will cushion my left-right jumps. |
