Remember that a new arcade version is quite a long time away, if they're going to release one at all. Nothing has been confirmed by Konami except that the series is on hiatus (IN JAPAN).
As far as the USA goes, it's selling well for the home systems here. So there's no reason to speculate that Extreme will be the last version.
I think Daikenkai is way too Japanese to fit in a USA version, as much as I like it. Sync is MUCH more likely and I'd even say fairly possible.
What's wrong with "I Was The One?" I like that song!

As far as online features, of course it should have head-to-head online matches, but ABSOLUTELY it should have online edit trading. THAT would extend the life of the game exponentially. Being able to go on and try edits created all over the world would just be excellent. As far as downloadable songs...
|
Erhm, if you play DDR on the computer, you've already got this option, as well as making your own songs. If you want to have edit trading so bad, I suggest buying a converter and joining the ddr crowd on PC.
As for online play, I don't think there will be matches, but there might be an online database of players #1 scores. However, if you're playing, who is to say that you're not using a controller? I know I can FC PSM Oni on keyboard but the best 10 footer I can do is Max 300 on foot. On Max. (Period) there have already been multiple people to AAA it on the keyboard. |

However, I don't think SCEA (Sony) will allow an Ultramix folder because that is technically promoting people to buy an Xbox. Here's what I think the folders might be:
DDR Extreme
Max 2
Max
Konamix
DDR 1st Mix
Drummania (man I hope all of the songs in this folder make it, esp Across The Nightmares)
Beatmania
IIDX
III
Mamba A Go Go (Mobo Moga was in that game right?)
Keyboard Mania
Dance Freaks

Beatmania/IIDX/III, Mamba A Go Go, KBM, and DMX do not have american releases. So why would it make any sense for them to sort it like unless they want to confuse the average consumer. Most people have never heard of those games. I know I hadn't until I joined these forum a year after I had been playing. I believe the first list of songs to be the most logical one. I dont see how putting an Ultramix folder would be wrong seeing as Konami owns Ultramix. _________________

Konamix used a 'beatmania' category, so it's not as unlikely as you'd think. In any case, there have been one or two US arcade versions of beatmania under the name 'HipHop Mania' or somesuch; they were ports of the Japanese Beatmania Complete Mix 1(?) and 2(I know this exists) with all the licensed songs removed.
Oh, and Mobo*Moga was a DMX song, not Mambo a Go Go. The only songs in the Mambo a Go Go category are Gamelan de Couple and La Bamba.
I'd predict a grouping like this, if group sort is in at all:
Dance Dance Revolution
DDR USA
DDR KONAMIX
DDR MAX
DDR MAX2
DDR EXTREME
beatmania
(possibly other bemani games)
"Dance Dance Revolution" would be the songs that were in 1. the USA PSX release and 2. the first US arcade mix (which is NOT DDR USA). DDR USA would be for the USA Arcade first appearance songs (i.e. Love This Feelin', if it repeated, or Trip Machine LuvMix, or Butterfly I think). |

Ummm, yeah, I was sorta hoping that Konami would actually impress me with something that would actually compete with the japanese games, but it looks like they won't. Konami had some serious ground to cover after Max2US and its repeat frenzy (it was fun, but had way too many repeats and was pretty easy). If konami doesn;t do over a 100 songs, I'll stick with Stepmania (the best mix ever ) and Extreme Arcade. |

As far as extreme goes for PS2, I really hope they have some good songs that I really like to just play around on in Extreme period... LIke Heaven is a 57, Higher (Next Morning Mix) and My Summer Love... Those may sound like lame requests for songs in a DDR mix outside of the arcades, and in the US.. Konami has been lazy at least in my opinion and not releasing those songs in the US, or on *ANY* version of DDR in the US... I also like the 80s songs they did for Extreme, MAX2, and MAX.. Like Ordinary World, The Reflex, We Are the Champions, We will Rock You, etc. I would get extreme either way.
About the character unlock feature, just a personal opinion I hope Baby-Lon makes a return I really like the way they did his animation in MAX2, compared to 5th Mix, which wasnt too bad as well.

75% of this thread is useless. Wish lists, arguments, wild assumptions and misinformation interest few who would read these threads looking for relevant news on the new game... if they weren't so full of hot air. KoA could have done a better job on Max and completely boned Max2. Maybe they'll do Extreme right. Maybe they won't. What the thread needs right now is a little more intelligence and a little less ineffectual wanking.
But then, if anyone ever listened to me, I'd get to play this.

okay one thing straight: that i have been seeing in the past home version: i have seen like a theme to each of them... why you ask? take for example konamix: the songlist was everything konami originals, and most of them being eurobeat, 140-155 bpm songs... MAX was themed with fast songs, ranging from 180-300 bpm mainly MAX300, and the two best paranoias in the series, then in Max 2, were all trance tracks, and licensed tracks, ranging from 125-160 bpm... if i stand correctly.. the theme in DDREX would be speed songs, mainly because the four song that have been announced two of them are fast songs (170bpm) but if that's not the case... well then let's just hope thay don't put any repeats on it... and another thing someone said that in the mix song selection they wouldn't be and disney mix songs... nor para para... there maybe some hope that there going to put Night of Fire, either the Niko version or the Dream version, because the Niko version was in disney mix. but hey anyone can Dream? well anyway my pickl for the song remain the same especially Dive ~Into Your Heat~ and Dive into the Night hee hee... well anyways i hope this mix is any better than the other two... and one ¿?: is it 100 or 200 + minutes of musik.. really im confused... |

Maybe it'll have Petit Love.

Stepmania/DWI is not the same as DDR.
Built-in edit trading would open up this option for tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of people actually playing the real game, plus give it an easy interface and a central repository--so there will be no file shuffling, gap editing, and so on and so forth. It would be much, much better.
Quote: | However, if you're playing, who is to say that you're not using a controller? |
I honestly don't know how they would implement this, but I can tell you how I personally would do it.
If there's a jump at any point in the song, the game would take note of how it was pressed. If the input is Up + Down or Left + Right as opposed to Triangle + X or Square + Circle, then they're using a pad. After all, it's impossible to press those combinations on the Dual Shock's D-Pad, a joystick, or pretty much anything else. If the jump was done using the buttons, then they're obviously on a controller. If they entered a "pad-only" match they would then be disqualified, otherwise it would just display that they used a controller in the results screen.
This system wouldn't be 100% perfect, since it wouldn't work for DDR hand controllers, but I figure it's about the best they can do.

But that would effectively kill all people who own metal pads such as the CF. I hope they find some other way IF they even include online play. _________________

Well, it seems there is a new game about 7 months away, right? I look forward to the wishes, the eventual songlist, and the disputes. (lots of them this time...) I'm not sure if this has been addressed but i will go on record saying that I do not think any Karaoke Revolution songs will be on the game; why would anyone think that? Next, i would like to say that it goes without saying that we can expect the Extra Stage to be Legend of Maxx to no surprise (yes, it's been discussed already, just stating my position). And, i think we can definetly count on some more horrible steps in these new exclusive licenses...whatever they may be, hahaha. My wishes (as always): More than i needed to know, It's Raining Men, So Fabulous So Fierce, and now...Cartoon Heroes along with Paranoia ~Respect~ which i doubt will appear since we have Paranoia Survivor and psM to deal with....alas...it will be another year before seeing that in the States. Sooo, that's where i stand, right now...let's continue... _________________

I'm not familiar with how the CF works. Do the arrows on it map to the four face buttons, or the D-Pad?
