25? Boy, it's really strange seeing that in reference to a "too old" thread. Let's talk OLD. Would you still not think twice if it was someone in his/her 40s or 50s? |

35. Been playing for a year and a half. Can do alll 9 footers and max300. Can AA a few songs. Just yesterday, got a 320 combo on max300 but got tired towards the end and got a B, no bar. And been stealthing SO DEEP for about a year now. Yesterday while stealthing mirror, got a 400+ combo, 410 perfects(avg about 420-430), 1 miss, 1 boo, and 1 good.
And I'm still getting better. _________________

It's nice to know that thier are people in the thirty+ group that know how to game as well. It let's me know that not everyone in the world is like most of the idiots I work with that wouldn't know a game if it hit them in the face. _________________

Over 40-mom of 5 and a grandma too and I play DDR! Well I try anyway-currently I can pass 6-7 footers usually with an A. Three of my kids play and I drive vanloads of the locals to tourneys and such (including Ryu). I think this game is awesome because it combines music, exercise, skill and the social scene of ddr. I totally encourage it for my kids and am having a great time with it myself. Hopefully I'll see everyone at The Break tourney in NJ this weekend!

You got the coolest name! We need more older people in here. I wonder who the oldest member of this forum is anyways? _________________

In an old thread, alan_robert_1950 claimed to be 53. He's the oldest as far as I know. _________________

You're never too old to play DDR XD.
However...until the day I see someone freestyle who is 50 years old or more...I will not die happy. Do the twist! _________________

i guess you can never be too old for ddr. although i've never seen anybody over 20 play at the arcades.
i'm 18 and i've been playing for about over 2 years(on and off) and feel kinda worn out everytime i play....age must be kickin in for me. but i wish i could have started playing like 5 years ago when it became popular over here when all the asian teenyboppers started playing....oh well. _________________

You probably never see the older folks playing cuz most don't know it exists! I watch lots of Asian movies, so I'd seen it played before, but never saw an actual arcade game here til I visited one of those adult arcades--and by adult i don't mean nudie, i mean "with bar."
Plus, we're all too ashamed to play in public! At least at first. I play at standard level on DDRMx2 now, but the first few hours--okay days--on the mat at home were some of the most humbling of my life
Nobody here seems to think older players too weird though, so maybe we're all paranoid!
It's funny how popular it's becoming though--I heard from a friend at my uni alma mater that kids are having parties and playing in their dorm rooms, and the uni prez even mentioned it in his welcome speech to the frosh, so its def. working its way into the mainstream, and up in age! _________________

Ugh, just reading through this thread makes me anxious about turning 21 this year. Anyway, despite my being very much out of shape, I consider myself a decent DDR player (my limits are seven footers, plus a few eights). And, if my body will keep up with me, I hope to continue DDR into my 30's-40's (at home, of course. I'd hate to pull a groin muscle or something in front of 20+ teens).
Allright, quick story time. I was playing at the Oaks Mall in Gainsville, FL about a year ago, when I notice this guy sitting against the wall, a few feet away from the machine. He was probably in his mid thirties, huge beard, unkempt hair, and reading theatre book. And so I'm thinking "what the hell is this guy doing next to a DDR machine?" And so he reads for about half an hour, while I'm sweating through La Copa De La Vida (Heavy) and HVAM (Standard). The guy gets up after I finished a round, and asked very politely if he'd like to do versus. I say yeah, expecting he'd Dynamite Rave or Butterfly. If I remember correctly, his picks were:
(on the heavy difficulty, of course)
DXY!
MAX 300
Era
This guy kicked my butt like you wouldn't believe. I felt like the biggest jerk for thinking he wasn't any good. And he just goes back to reading his book, like it was nothing.
You know, it's odd. Growing up, I kept thinking I would mature out of the kid stuff that populated my life (videogames, comic books, anime). But now that I'm in my second year of college, I've come to realize that I'm never going to grow out of that stuff, that in a lot of ways this "kid stuff" has made me who I am.
I don't know, maybe this will all change tomorrow. But I know what I likes now, and I likes my DDR _________________
