hey y'all, i used to come here and i've learned alot, but now i'm in a kosher dill. I'm doing an FS for Dive from 5th mix. If i don't put anything with it, it'll just look like most of my other routines. I need a gimmick, and i need some help. Anything reasonable? _________________

You don't necessarily need a gimmick... but if you have no ideas whatsoever.....

ok i really really need some help, ive played ddr umm 5 times, its really cool, ive played stepmania for about 4 months, and i really like ddr!!! i need some moves y'know
i usually sometimes do the following:
when theres a U,D,U, L+R, L+R i do u,d,u then jump to L+R then rotate around the other way on the second L+R and i just want to know is it good to do run on a D,D,D? like i mean use your left foot on the first one then right foot on the next one then left again, is that good to do? what would be better for a D,D?
ive tried tiptoe to heel for a R,R or a L,L but dont find it good... i tried tiptoe twice and it felt so much better could anyone give me some tips on some moves or useful tips or something? thanks alot _________________

costumes also help gather a lot of attention -- this is what i did once:
i once procured a hospital gown and improvised with wires and masking tape to look like i had wires strapped to my chest. i wore the gown, stuck the wires onto me, and made it look like i hooked them up to a closed laptop, which i had it just sit next to the DDR screen. then i started playing Healing Vision Angelic Mix and it got quite a number of looks.
i still remember the management's looks because they werent sure as to whether they had to kick me out or allow me to continue playing
so yeah, costumes are also an important thing if you wanna attract attention.
PS -- next time, i'm gonna look for a broken EKG |

Well if the routine isn't worth the time, then the costume ain't worth the trouble... in my honest opinion. Just make sure both are equally worth your time. _________________

I always thought a two-person swordfight routine would be awesome, but I don't know anything about freestyling |

In my experience with freestyling, the best advice I can give. Is to do what you wouldn't normally do. Like if it's an up, left, up, left, up, left. You hit the up with your left foot, then slide back and hit the left with your left foot. Hit the up with your right foot and then slide back and hit the left with your right foot. Then alternate feet. I even do spin while doing this sometimes. The other thing to remember is to have fun and get into it. Don't think about trying to impress people. Just take a song you love and go nuts with it. But.. uhhh not to nuts... Flailing your limbs often looks quite ridiculous. And I'll share one more move with you all that happens to be my signature move:
The D Break
Pattern: left+right, up, down, right, left, up
Instructions: Do the left+right facing the screen then hit the up with your right hand and then the down with your left. Then swing your right leg around in front of you and place your right hand on the right. Push off your right hand and land facing to the right of the screen with you right foot on the left and your left foot on the up.
Another variation of that involves doing a handstand at the end instead of pushing off the right hand. Pretty easy break dancing move to master and it looks pretty damn cool. |

JimTheFly from the Mid-Atlantic has one for MikekenoRock which i thought was great. I'm not sure if it's from the sportsworld tourney or another, but the files are somewhere... try www.ensyther.net (i think?) _________________

i really liked it, you had a lot of different dance moves all put together, the moves could have flowed together a little smoother, but it still looked good.
