You'd actually be surprised how good a traction you can get on your feet, that is unless you have ballerina feet o.O Plus, unless you dont wash your feet in the shower there really aren't too many germs to be worried about, just dirt. Most arcades are rather clean, and a bare-footed player isn't too hard to find. As far as the screws are concerned, you're not going to hit them unless you're misstepping. In that case you've gotta work up your balance, but if you got your weight-shifts in check then screws are never a problem because you're just never hitting them. Course, you've got to go with what you're comfortable with i guess...but still shoes are just dead weight you gotta lift every time in my opinion so it's worth the extra two minutes in the shower to really scrub em. E1.gif

Any reason why people like less traction? I'm beginning to think now there's two kinds of players, the aforementioned 'slider' and the seemingly more popular 'hopper' i guess... I dont think this is like in bowling where curved players are always superior to straight players...but any reason why someone would want less traction? I'm just not seeing it. I've played with socks on and the lack of support under your feet just throws me off balance so i'm stumbling to every note. Also, what level players are sliding? Is this a newbism (like standing center) or do high-ranking players use this? I'm very curious to know...

Pretty beat up Converse Aggressor basketball shoes. Mostly flat bottom, not too heavy, and perfectly broken in. I'm probably gonna get a pair of K-Swiss shoes soon though because they're ridiculously light and very comfy.

I just wear skatting shoes, they sometimes weigh to much. But I usually only wear them when I want to play Max 300 or something, better grip. (Finally got a A on Max 300 ( 1. 5 Speed) a couple of days ago) laugh.gif E4.gif

I tried those nike shox, they are pretty good, they (boing) when you you step on the pad, saves energy. But currently, i am using the new nike shox propulsion shoes, they are even better! they support medial and lateral movements, perfect for ddr! also, another tip, never use the nike basketball shox, they are good, but too heavy for ddr. (great for basketball though!) biggrin.gif

For me, I have to have my Nike running shoes, or something that is extremely stable on my feet. Sandals and mocs slip too much, and barefoot screws me up because I am always scared to step down hard without shoes.

It all depends on what I'm going for. If I'm going to be working on doing stuff on Heavy then I'll wear just some tennis shoes or these really REALLY comfortable and supporting Tommy Hilfiger shoes I have. If I'm freestyling it's a different story. I do a bit of a dressier affair because I like to look good when I dance. I'll sometimes where something similar to loafers, but I do have some nice Skechers boots that I wear. Heavy? A little, but I've developed enough leg strength to where it doesn't even matter anymore. It looks mighty fine to be dancin' on the board when you're spiffed up.

I play in 'Roos identical to the ones found here: http://store.alloy.com/catalog/browse/productview.asp?PRODUCT_ID=17789&PARENT=106&PARENT=1027 . They even have little pockets on the side, perfect for storing tokens.

I usually wear my military issue steel-toes going to the arcade and play one full session in those. Then, I put on my Pony joggers. They have *great* grip and feel so good. Especially when playing with two pairs of socks, or one thick pair.

Looking on getting some high-end gel inserts for my joggers sometime soon. Although, I'm not too sure about it.

Has anyone had any adverse affects switching from a naked shoe to a gel-lined shoe?

What kind of shoes are you wearing to make you think forces are light...I mean come on and weigh those, your like talking yourself into thinking they are light even if they are the low's i have about 3 pairs, 2 lows and 1 high and they weigh a ton.

The ddr shoes I play in now are some reebok classics they weigh about half together than what one of my forces weigh. If i were any of you I'd rush out and order mine right now (if its 2 in the morning order them, haha) they are that good yeaaahhhhh....!
