I wouldn't suggest using a slidecard though... You're forcing the drive out of your PS2 and I can't see that helping the motor any. Just get a fliptop or do what I did. ;)
Swap Magic works because the PS2 checks for the region code at two times: When you turn the PS2 on, and when you close the tray (like when you put a game in). The fliptop/slidecard/ghettoPS2 gets around this by letting you not have to actually open the tray (the slidecard forces it open, so it doesn't think it is open). The Swap Magic discs have your region code on it (make sure you buy the right one ;) so the PS2 boots them, then it gives you a screen where you swap the disc and hit a button on your controller, booting the import. Without it I wouldn't be able to play any IIDX or Pop'n. :D
Edit: I really either need to proofread my posts or not care about mistakes in them.

My point exactly also, USA DDR's are not meant to be the same as Japan's. Notice why Japan's DDR popularity is declining, all the home versions are like exact replicas of the arcade versions.
I bet it MAX USA had never come out with more songs than any JPN Mix and Oni mode on it, MAX2 JP would've had only the exclusives and licenses from MAX2 Arcade, but KOJ after seeing MAX US decided to go back and add all those originals and such...
Anyway, hopefully EXTREME will be online... _________________

1) get a job
2) get a soldering iron/solder/and flux
3) find a spare computer part and practice soldering
4) spend 60$ on a mod chip
5) install it. |

There's a new DDR release scheduled for PS2? What mix and when? _________________

That's where the modchip thread comes into play.
To answer your question, the fliptop comes with mod discs called swapmagic, which allow you to boot up with the swapmagic then swap in a japanese game. The fliptop allows you to get the disc out without pressing the eject button, because pressing the eject button makes the PS2 re-read the region code, which would make it not work.
*edit* dang there are 2 pages ... so this has already been explained to death |

They put a lot of time into the PSX and that didn't turn out half as well as expected.... Microsoft knew what they were doing when they built a hard drive into the Xbox, and while Sony is still struggling to get that implemented before the PS2 is old news, it's safe to assume the PS3 will incorporate a hard drive... if it doesn't, well... it won't be worth picking up. Until the day that the PS2 HD comes out, there will be no DLC and i'll be content to spend more time DDRing with my Xbox and PC than my PS2. |
the hard drive is either out by now or very soon, has FFXI on it, (but there is a monthy fee 2 play it), it'll cost about $99, and they probably will have DLC, cause dey got DLC on Karaoke Revolution (also by konami 4 those of u dat dont no) _________________

Yeah, non of the content besides the song lists, the movies, and the step charts have been updated since I started coming to the boards a few months ago. Not that there is not THAT much information on this site, but could there really be that much about a game that hasn't changed much in the past 5 years? _________________

Heh, let's cross our fingers and hope for a direct port of JP Extreme
EDIT: and soon |
and hopefuly DLC will be on here |
I wouldn't hold my breath guys!
But, I am wondering what DDR games for PS2 will be in the furture. From what the MTV game awards say, it makes it seem that there will be more than one DDR mix in the future for PS2. If extreme is one of them, I would not be surprised. If the song list is the same as the JP version, I will be very surprised and would not buy it. If it is online capable...i will be pleased. I am very anxious about the future of DDR for PS2. _________________

I would rest assured that as long as ddr maintains popularity in the us, the songlist will not reach 100+ _________________

as i said (in my post b4 da 1 he quoted), the hard disk is out, and there is also DLC on Karaoke Revolution, but i cant really say with online...
andPEOPLE AT KONAMI PAY ATTENTION
maby using the hard diskwe can take music cds and put them on the hard disk like we can with our computer, then put them in DDR and make the steps are selfs (or maby a step generator would be kewl) _________________

March 23rd or 26th is the release date. It'll be worth $100. |
