Some people don't have a lot of stamina, the bar helps them keep playing (as well as keep balance)... also this would be better posted in the Gameplay forum. ..

Three main reasons: stamina, balance, and improving PA (a subcategory of which is minimizing upper body movement, as maxx paranoia can attest to)

I won't even go into the merits of using the bar. I use it for 10s. The argument's been beaten to death. As long as people respect other peoples' decisions, there shouldn't be a problem.

Some people are against people using the bar, because it makes the game easier. These people are just annoyed that people use the bar, 1.5+solo etc to improve their performance, whereas others struggle to achieve things using no mods and no bar. I personally don't use the bar, though I don't feel the way I just described about bar users. Although, JSB is more impressive than Yasu to me. The only reason being, he does well without the bar, which makes it more energy draining. The fact that he can still do it without taking the pressure off his upper body makes it that much more impressive, IMO. *That's not to say that Yasu's achievements are any less because he used the bar.*

I personally don't see what the big deal is, after all, you're still hitting arrows. Sometimes it's good to have something to keep your balance. It's a good training tool for starting DDR and it helps you a little as far as stamina goes. Therefore, I see it as a good thing. Although it is still impressive to play without it. I only use it when I feel I really need it (10-footers).

I use the bar when I first try a hard song, so I can get used to it, I only use it like twice though, because my body gets accustomed to the step pattern.

Ill use the bar for hard 10 footers that I need to learn... When I was learning max 300 and paranoia survivor, i basically lived on the bar... Now I can do them without it... Im working on Max unlimited without the bar, but LoM is a long ways away, I can barely pass it with the bar... I still cant Pass PSM, so I always use the bar for that. I dont see a problem, because Im only using the bar to learn the songs, eventually i should be able to do them all without the bar.

for some reason whenever i try to use the bar, it seems unnatural and i actually do worse on songs...for instance, right now i'm trying to complete max300, and i get farther in the song without the bar than with.

the place i go to is notorious for bar rapers though. i just can't stand it when some little kid is bragging about beating a song on heavy, or saying to me when i'm picking a song "oh that song's so easy". then the kid gets up there and completely rapes the bar while doing songs that should not require such.

i have to put up the sign sometimes.

well a while back, i had to rape that bar so much it was worn out for the next player. anyway, i used it cuz of low stamina, but lately i've overcome the stamina need, and i have a lot of it. finally max 300 without touching that bar.

i tried using the bar for the very first time the other day on paranoia survivor. it didnt help at all. i was holding it with 2 hands...is it easier using it with 1 or 2 hands? oh well. im gonna beat that song sooner or later, or ill blow up the machine...

Personally, I HATE bar rapers

... anytime I see one I pull out my jar of coins and start throwing pennies at them while they dance...

The only time I EVER touch the bar is when I trip mid-song and need to either catch myself or break something.
