For some reason, it's easier for me to always rant about selfish, rude and downright evil DDR players I encounter in arcades.

So I figured..have any of you guys ever met people that were actually..yknow..pleasant? That actually made playing the game easier and didn't get in the way?

I remember a while a go, this one girl had forgotten that my coin was before hers, and she almost went up..when I reminded her I was first, she graciously apologized and didn't have any poopy, and I thought that was cool.

Later that game, when I accidentally picked a hard song and passed it, I remembered hearing her friends gossip about how I was supposedly better than her in an attempt to piss her off, but she simply responded "hell yea, I'm jealous." and I thought that was pretty courteous (not to mention I was flattered..E10.gif)

So what about it? Anybody else meet nice people for a change?

Before I got into DDR I met three really good players that each did crazy freestyle routines on MAX2... I was captivated and talked to them after about their DDR addiction. They suggested that I tried it and gave me some advice before I played my first song (it happened to be xenon on beginner, and I got a B). After that, they told me that I was pretty good for never playing before and managed in under 15 minutes to get me to spend another 15 tokens on DDR and push my skills up to Light mode where I kept getting Bs and Cs... we kept alternating for about an hour and a half until they had to go. The next day, I went online and bought MAX1 and 2 soft pads and the rest, as they say, is history.

I met one person that was being courteous with the machine when i waiting thinking i didn't know what i was doing E4.gif The only thing i felt bad about was that someone went up to her and said she was really good at the game on the light song.... Then i went right up and did 321 stars on heavy...

Also i chose a song the person i was versing didn't want to do and they politely tried to ask to change the song without saying your crazy or anything when i chose the song love shine....

That's all i can think of that isn't about my friend riiight.gif

all of the people I encounter around here are quite pleasant. I've had people wanting to play a game or two with me, we give each other tips, play each other's favorite songs, congratulate each other when we pass a hard song, etc. luckily I haven't met any unpleasant people yet. E1.gif

Players who are really good are normally friendly, and tend to help others out. There was this guy who could easily AA Tears who helped me pass Sakura on Heavy, and he told off these other amateur players who were makin' fun of me, sayin' I couldn't even pass the easiest 10. Hell, they couldn't even pass Miracle Moon on Heavy. In my opinion, the players who are not so nice are usually the ones who couldn't pass a song with at least a C even if their life depended on it...call it insecurity, I guess.

I would say that 90% of the players that I have met are pretty cool. 5% are the overly concerned with their scores and 5% are the ignorant people that don't know arcade ettiquette.

The only arcades within a close distance of where I am are Teeny-Bopper Gathering Sites...it's not too difficult to run into someone who thinks they're the ish. Nonetheless I play..Being good at the game usually shuts them up.

When I first started playing DDR, I didn't know that you put your coins on the machine so you can go next. So I was waiting for an opening but all of these people were putting their quarters up there to play next. This boy/girl couple who were fairly decent (the girl actually kicked the guy's butt) went ahead of me and while I was waiting, she puts her quarters up again. But she noticed I had been watching for a while so she asked me if I was going next. I was being polite because I started to get the jist of things, so I said I was thinking about it. So she said if I decided to go, then I could go before her. I thought that was cool.

Sometimes I meet a lot of people who don't give any BS about turns, skill, or anything. Of course there are the whiners, complainers, people who just plain look like freaks, and bastards who think they are "uber kool" By jumping in the way of their superiors, completly ruining a potential AA on Across the nightmare oni Double. In short, take the good with the bad. mostly bad though. E2.gif

My mall's Extreme machine doesn't have any rude or mean people really.. maybe all teh wanna be thugs who are really small kids I could stomp on.. disturb.gif Anyway there are a few preps that play under a purple moon and then there's the regular players and some punks and goths who simply watch... But anyway I met a really cool girl who was pretty good, (she was visting from mexico that I thougth was neat. n.n) But anyway she was very nice about how I played and I enjoyed her style as well (first we took turns and then a versus) that brought the biggest crowd I've seen around the machine. laugh.gif

I've encountered a few people that arent regulars..who think they are greater than god when they play (and I, and other people can 0wn them E15.gif ) But that's about. We also congradulate each other on good things we do. Everyone was real supportive to me when i AA'd So Deep on heavy.

Not too many rude people in the Salina area that i've met. One kids friend kept trying to get me off beat by saying "left......upright.....down left down" and those weren't even the patterns. I hate kids like that. Then again, who doesn't?

Man, you people are lucky. At the first arcade I played at (I won't name names) People said I sucked (I did but didn't need to be told it), would taunt me, Move my hands when I bar-raped(Yeah yeah disgust.gif ) But then 4 foot levels later, (10 foot) and a new arcade Everyone was nice, and I learned from the Mean people's mistakes and actually *help* the newbies. biggrin.gif

I think that another reason that people are nice to me in general is that I am 22, and I am 6'6". Have you ever seen a old fart like me do Max 300 bar raping all the way? Looks fuckin hilarious and well scares people. Or there is the flailing about on other songs. Being tall, old and having facial hair keeps some people in check. E4.gif

While I was in California for 2 months, I met a guy playing DDR. I told him about my situation and why I was there, he became a DDR buddy and really pushed me to play harder than I ever had before. It was thanks to him that I went from 6 feet to 8 in less than 2 months time.
