i know all of you have a semi interesting story about the first time you hit the pad in public and this thread is dedicated to your story

Mine was when i went to blazer tag in austin this summer with my friends and there was a max 2 there, there was a mexican chick dancing with a girl with green hair. the mexican girl was better than the other one and the song they were playing i cant quite think of it right now. she was inspiring and when i mustered up the courage to talk to her she told me that this was her life and she was having a hard time raising money for her sessions. i told her that i liked this game and wanted to get into it, but there wasnt a ddr machine anywhere near my place. she told me all about stepmania and this web site and if shes reading this next time i go there, i would be honored to dance with her. stupid me, i didnt even get her name drool.gif

I remember I thought this game was so stupid, and I refused to play it for the life of me... I finally agreed to try it if my friend who wanted me to play could convince somebody else to go up with me.... So I did, and sucked it up big time... After that, I'd only play like once a month or something, but in about February 2003 was when I really got into it, and by March I was playing on heavy mode... Now I'm one of the best in my area...

I had been playing at home for some time when I found a DDR machine in an arcade in Canada on vacation. However it was set up right next to the bar, so the drunk guys at the bar just heckled and/or stared at everyone who played. Plus the pads kind of sucked but compared to other machines I've played on it was pretty good, no coin line and practically everyone who played DDR in that place was really bad so there weren't any "better than you HUR HUR HUR" jerks there.

Wouldn't you say Arcade experiences belong in the DDR Arcade forum?

I would, hell there's even a sticky for them!
