IIDX is definitely not as "popular" as say DDR is outside of Japan. I think the Japanese bitched and moaned so much they finally decided to release a new version. |
But back when DDR was first taking off in this country KDEA responded with some ( initially ) limited release home versions to get us along until DDR MAX arrived. Beatmania home versions in Japan are dead. But by starting again with another small, limited release of Beatmania KDEJ is showing some intrest in changing that. The whole point of a Bemani game with a small initial batch ( like KOA's first DDR games ) is surely to test fan intrest before releasing the 'real' game. If 7th style CS sells out of its initial batch and goes on to sell 50,000 or 100,000 copies then surely 8th style CS will happen and IIDX will have its momentum back.
And also like DDR, if that momentum happens to carry over seas and KDEA takes notice, you know, hey, it could happen!
Or not. If nobody buys 7th Style we might not ever get another chance to support BM again. And by 'we' I mean BM fans worldwide. Yes, this a Japanese only release intended for the Japanese BM players who are playing IIDX in the arcade but DDR was never intended to cross over the way it did. It just kind of happened. And we ddrfreaks in this thread are obviously interested in IIDX. So I wouldn't rule anything out yet. Whatever happens with BM is only about happen. |

I wouldn't factor that one in. As much of a KBM fan I am ( ), it's more of a little "Hey, new Keyboard. Here's some software to mess around with." kind of thing. It still has the interface of KBM II (3rd Mixy), and you just load your own songs anyway...but this isn't a KBM board...
I agree with some points, namely the hybrid IIDXs, 8th Style low probability, and consumer support. If in fact they do decide to make another IIDX after 7th (by acts of sales...or God... ), they'll probably want to bring CS versions to a slow down. Grabbing the best of 8th and 9th might sound like a good idea (in Konami Ideal World), and most likely they'll do whatever saves the company money. But who knows. No one can really be sure what the future of IIDX holds. I myself am just gonna sit back, wait for 7th, and let the world turn.

Which won't be for another 5 months. So, yeah  .

Ordering from anyone other than Konamistyle won't increase the vote because the stores order about 500 at a time in bulk and then sell those off.

Yippie, any news on release date and such? I'm gonna go out and pre-order as soon as I know more...
-On the preorder note, how reliable are the shipping methods from Play-Asia? I've sucsessfully ordered from them before, but I can't seem to remember what I did for shipping. I think I did EMS, but I ordered several items, and the cost was less than 10% of my order. If I do EMS here, my order price goes up by almost a third. Any advice? I guess I may go with EMS or UPS anyway, but some help would be appreciated.

I just recently bought a Ceramic PS2 and a DDR Bucket from there via UPS Express. I think the shipping is a hair high, but I got both almost instantly.

I know what you mean, but it's somewhat about right. Most places you get UPS 2nd Day Air for, what, $11-$15 at most, so since it's UPS Express (which, I kind of think is a hair better than Next Day Air...according to my supervisor), I think it's right on the money. But don't take my word for it. TUH TUH TUH.
