I know that there are four songs that can be unlocked through the course of gameplay, but I am only using a 5 key beatmania controller and really want to unlock Outer limits, but its been a while, and still no unlocks cept tatsujins and gallery. do I have to do anything special *certain songs, certain mods, only 7 key* to unlock Outer Limits?
thanks
sean

Songs are unlocked after one completed round of Arcade Mode.

Generally, unlocking only works for 7-Key and Light-7 mode though, so that may be your problem. Maybe play on a Dual Shock for a few rounds?

And BTW, there are 7 song unlocks. Dissolve, Stick Around, Outer Limits, Hyper Boundary Gate, Strong Jaeger, Changes, and Jelly Kiss.

LOL thanks a ton man! I have unlocked about 13 tatsujin movies, to give you an idea of how long I've been playing! I just thought IIDX was real hardcore about unlocks... ok! I'm going to plug in my dual shock and give it a go. THanks a ton! Mods are the coolest!

It would be a lot better to get an actual IIDX controller though, IIDX isn't really meant to be used for 5 key. There's also the fact that you only make about 2/3rds of the actual sounds with 5 key mode, and then you can't play another mode neither.

And just for a warning, IIDX on the dual shock is quite hard.

I'd debate that, given that:

-there's an option for the 5 key controller when you set up the game on first run.
-the 5 key controller is shown in the manual under the control configurations
-there IS 5 key mode

It defeats the purpose of playing IIDX, sure. But I wouldn't say it's not "meant" to be played 5-key. E1.gif

Indeed. I can play both (alot better at 5-key since that's what I started on), but I'd still much rather do 5-key. I hope Konami adds 5-key Another and Light support (although I prolly wouldn't be using light E10.gif) for 7th style CS like they did with 9th style arcade. I'm sick of being restricted to boring old normal 7's for 5-key tongue.gif

I mean they don't make BM games anymore, so c'mon Konami give it up we need some harder 5-key stuff ^__^

OK, here's what you need to do:

Don't waste time with the Dual Shock, it's not worth relearning the game just to play on the controller.

Go to controller set up with the dual shock , and configure the 5 keys on the controller to go to the leftmost 5 keys. I don't know which ones go to what, but if you play around with it in free mode a little bit I'm sure you can figure it out. Now change up to go to the rightmost blue key and down to go to the rightmost white key.

Go to options and change the difficulty to 1. Start a new game in arcade, and play on Light 7. Play the songs in this order: Yesterday, A New Morning, and Night of Fire. Don't turn on auto scratch, you're just going to have to ignore the scratching parts. Just use the turntable to hit the rightmost 2 keys. If you can't do this, then find someone to control the turntable parts while you just play on the five keys. After you finish all three songs, enter your initials in the high score screen as 2DX6. If you happen to get extra stage, just pick whatever song you want. Sit through the credits. Everything should be unlocked now.

This is what I did anyway, hope it helps.

syxx is right, that's how my 6th style got unlocked. Yesterday, then A New Morning, then Night of fire, in that order. You have to get a high score, you have to enter your initials as 2DX6, and you have to watch the credits. Afterwards, all songs, modes, and tatsujin videos will be unlocked.

Otherwise you have to clear all the songs on a mode (Light 7, 7 Key, Another) in order to see Lisu totally pwn V [a].
