I don't think a hollywood motion picture would work for DDR. The entire movie(or at least the majority of it) would have to take place in the arcade and on the machine through most of the film. Not to mention you would get tired as all hell from playing a lot and we all know that it takes a long time to film a good movie. I would however would like to see more news documentaries on T.V in regards to DDR. That, to my extent, would be interesting. I would probably tune in to that more than I tune in to this website.

What I use for leetspeak. From left to right, the columns are standard letters, single character leetspeak, letter free leet speak. Of course, contextual changes might need to be done, you may have other preferences.

I HATE bumping old topics, but I heard about this IRL, and I started thinking.

A) What would get EVERYONE's attention, not just DDR players.
B) What would make DDR players interested.
C) What would be the best Video format to go with.

Well, Anime would be great... too painful to attempt unless you have a TON of money. So I thought about a full length film. Again, bad idea. I've been part of a couple small student films when I was in school, they took forever.

A series, like a comi-drama, and kind've like 10kcommotion. That is almost an excellent representation of DDR at it's best... but too... Fruity for non-DDR people.

You'd have to have several plots, Revolving around DDR, one or more characters social lives, and then several "groups" of DDR players. This way, you get every aspect involved. The individual person, the group of friends, and their connection, the DDR machine.

I was sort of basing my own ideas off my personal life, for the solo character. I have major problems with DDR, i'm 21, and the only girls I run into (on and off the pad,) are between 14 and 17. :\ definately not cool, but a good storyline struggle when done correctly.

The group aspect could be different local DDR players meeting for the first time before a big tourney (ala 10kcommotion,) and having some sort of power struggle. This is hard, making one area seem "better" than another, but you could just go off personalities and let the audience judge.

The DDR could be;
1) a big tourney somewhere
2) just a popular hangout within the state/country

I explained how it was possible to have the entire final bracket of 8-10 players in 5 minutes. A segmented series like this IS possible, and I believe it would be quite popular given time.

For web series movies, check things like http://www.redvsblue.com/.

I have nothing to do other than think about video. So if you'd like me to review a script, or even take lead on this project, I WILL do it, but I need support, and we CAN do this. E-Mail is in my profile. Just post back here if you want to jump on board. I'm serious, this can be ubar cool.

Err... I can't think of a good movie plot.

However... one thing we can do...

a musical featuring all DDR songs!

(similar to Mamma Mia!, which featured all ABBA songs...)

Once the songs are chosen, pick a storyline to go with the songs. It doesn't have to do with DDR, though it certainly can...

You smoke alot of crack don't you? Quit thinking that the "movie" would be just people on a machine jumping up and down on arrows. IF someone tried to make a movie like that, I'd laugh... really hard...

"hey man, I just AAA'ed Exotic Ethnic!"

Audience: "We don't know, and don't care you idiot"

"hey man, I heard you got an AAA on Exotic Ethnic, that's the highest score you can get isn't it?"

Audience: "Ok, now that means something."

-_-" cause and effect. Treat all viewers as if they had the attention span and learning/idea grasping abilities of a 10 year old. That makes a good movie/film/whatever.

The prospect of a reality-TV DDR series would be amusing, with commentators (who hopefully actually know what they're talking about) explaining the technicalities to the viewers in English rather than DDRspeak.

Hey, they showed the World Poker Tour on the Travel channel, and the Kasparov - X3D Fritz chess match on ESPN2

Ok...if we made a movie on, say...Mortal Kombat (yes, I know there's a movie), we wouldn't make a movie about people playing the game Mortal Kombat. We would make a movie using the game's storyline and characters. Or at least the characters.

Ditto for DDR. We take the characters, and since it is a dancing game, we make a dance movie. Since it has competition, we make a dance competition. Since many of the characters come in couples, we have the characters enter the competition as couples. Rage and Emi, for example. We might have to get rid of the more "unreal" characters like Devil-Zukin...and place the movie in a setting where DDR, the arcade game, doesn't exist. The competition itself, on the other hand, will be called Dance Dance Revolution.

The characters compete against each other by either improvising a dance right there, or performing routines. The routines can be done with or without their partner. And since it's a freestyle dance competition, they can use whatever dance style they want.

The tournament setup would have to layed out in a decent way, of course. And we need an underdog to defeat the reigning champion. Stuff like that.

Just imagine. A near future alternate world where dancing has become the most popular pasttime of people all over the world. So much, that competitions, local, national, and international, have popped up everywhere. Most prominant would be the international tournaments Bust A Groove, Dance Maniax, and the greatest of them all...

..Dance Dance Revolution.

Hmmm... I just thought about that. Like a DDR real world or whatever (only the 1 homosexual, 2 jock, 1 lazy guy, 1 slut, 1 doggy, 1 drunk requirements will be removed for the DDR series.) Maybe a re-creation of some of the great moments in DDR competition history. *shrugs* i dunno, I'm just tossing out ideas as well.
