How many of you agree with me they should advertise ddr a little bit more, cause anytime I would mention ddr to some people who liked video games a whole bunch, theyre like " huh? whats that?" I mean really the media should get down and dirty with this topic. DDR is the only physical interactive video game out there, and everyone knows that. So tell me what you think about this topic _________________

First of all, most people could give half a rat's ass about some stupid game where you "dance".
Second, fuck the media. |

Would you really want everyone and their mom playing this game to the point where you hear the same songs being repeated, then all of a sudden seeing it on MTV everyday. _________________

I don't think many people have a rat's ass handy to be able to give in the first place.
But if the media actually produced the information in the correct light, it could work well. But many attempts at this have failed, unfortunately. _________________

I won't bother explaining the rat's ass wasn't to be taken literally because I am sure that comment was just a joke.
In all seriousness, DDR will probably never be given the media exposure that is should. The fact is that DDR came from Japan and that already puts it in the category of media called "Whacky shit from Japan." So it is always treated in the same light as Japanese cell phones with coffeemakers and camcorders that can also function as electric cars. Given this classification it is very hard for people to accept DDR as anything other than some silly game from Japan. |

The last thing I want is to see DDR advertised. That would just bring in the load of over-popular people everyone hates, whose attitude towards the game is, "I plae dah gaim fer mah gurlfren bee impres'd!!1!"
Then all their popular friends start flooding the game and when you, the person who's been playing for God-knows-how-long, decide to take your turn, you get told how you're trying to be a wannabe.
It's happened to me, and it's not as fun as it sounds. _________________

No media. They'd probably bastardize the game or just bring a horde of incompetent rude people to the game. Imagine the crowd that watches you when you play DDR. Now imagine that all of those people also put a coin in the coin line. Scary, huh? _________________

I used to think nobody knew what DDR, by it's initials, was. At school I was talking about "DDR" with a friend. Two or three girls heard us talking and asked if we play it, I was surprised they knew what it was. Now I'm kinda undecided about how popular it is, I think if they knew about that other people would too, but that's stereotyping. _________________

Well I don't know. It seems like everytime the media ever got envolved they always ended up getting all their information wrong. They tell everyone how to play and yet they themselves still don't know how to play. It ends up being a debocale. Anyone remeber the story on good morning america???
They ended up getting a bunch of people that had no idea what they were doing, and told all the all the good players not to do anything. I just wanted to cry when one of my friends who was at the event told me that.
But the thing that made me laugh about the event was that they actually got real dancers since this is supposed to be a dancing game!!!! But the "REAL DANCERS" weren't doing any better than all the rest of the noobs that were playing. COME ON!!!!
That just goes to prove that DDR isn't a dancing game. HA!!!! _________________

DDR will never be taken very seriously here untill some high-hat decides to throw in a whole bunch of mainstream music. |

A joke it was indeed.
There's really good and bad points to this. You people are focusing on the bad. Being the amount of new people playing with "n00b" question multiplying dramatically. But then, think of the idea of a national tournament, or you being better than most of the population because you've been playing for a while. The new will look up to the old.
But that's my take on it. We will see what happened with the Video Game of the Year poll on MTV. _________________

I'm also against media exposure of DDR. We're like Marines or Mac users, small elite groups of people with access to the coolest technology. The more people that know about it, the less special it is for us, the DDR l33t. _________________

I agree. the last thing i want to see is a ddr show on mtv or DDR songs on Total request lick my a$$. Media should stay out of it. Besides once people find out its popular its gonna boom with stupid noobs. and im not talking about the people who play on light. Im talking about the stupid assholes who go and make fun of it and then you pwn them with a karate chop to the neck and then they Keel over |

Well thanks for your own point of view, I just needed to know if it was such a good idea. it's always good to keep the good stuff to the pros eh? I do agree on the part of people taking it over, would be pretty frustrating trying to get to the game when there is a whole crowd there waiting their turn. The best thing to do is let them find out for themselves, *nods* well this should sum it up _________________

No thanks, I like it the way it is...thank you! I don't want the media to get all caught up and make DDR bigger than it is now. I'm a DDR Freak, but I hate to see it all over MTV and the news.. _________________

DDR is too mainstream! I'm going to play IIDX because it makes me feel more individual.
I don't mind the media getting in on DDR, hell, it might encourage more DDR machines to be brought to arcades and other locations. As long as it's done in a tasteful manner, such as covering a broader spectrum of music based games, instead of just singling out DDR for criticism, the results would be much better. _________________

The amount of press and media attention DDR gets right now is fine by me and should stay this way. and I'm a part of the press/media
