Ok, While I was sleeping a i had a great and cheaper way to mod a pad on carpet! (Also cheaper!!)
Anyway, if you have read the guide on modding a pad, on this site, then you will get the basic steps.
First, go out and buy the plastic carpet covering ( similar to the hardwood covering, but has spikes)
!!!Optional!!Then, get some hardwood plastic covering, and anykind of tape, I suggest using the clear pakaging tape (if you are look conscious, or the duct tape for the people who like durability)
1. Cut the plastic carpet covering as if you were going to cover the pad,but make it stretch out to the sides at least 2 inches more. Place the plastic under the pad, much like a piece of wood, then tape the outside of the pad down to it
2. Optional, take the hardwood covering and put it on top, and also tape it to the plastic!
You can now use a cheap but effective pad mod that you will be able to use shoes on, and not have to worry about it slipping!!! _________________

o yeah, just wondering.....do any of you, who modded their pads, know how to put a bar on. i have about an extra large board, about a 1 foot out on each side of the pad, and the pad in the middle taped down. has anyone ever tried adding a bar to this setup? _________________

Yup, me too. But I tossed out that design because it was uncomfortable.
My rug in the basement is just a thin area rug on a concrete floor, so playing DDR in my socks was killing my ankles. I tossed the plastic carpet cover and instead went to Pep Boys and bought some of that interlocking foam shop floor covering (comes in 2x2 foot squares) in order to provide a good amount of cushion.
I put some velcro on the bottom of the squares to make it stick to the carpet and then taped the pad to the squares themselves. Works great. |
