for a person who hasn't played ddr very long i at least know to RESPECT ELDERS!! i wouldn't brag about me somehow doing a heavy song that the other guy failed because he prolly hasn't ever done that song (meanwhile i blew $10.00 on it). _________________

I respect my elders, but older people need to respect people younger than themselves. |

I think -both- age groups need to respect eachother more. Not every young person is a snot, and neither is every older person, but there's some in every group. |

That added nothing to the conversation. All it did was make a huge sweeping statement by saying you're better than all High Schoolers, nothing in this conversation warranted a statement like that, even if you could back it up. |

I like how this topic is going - half the time it's respect the young people, then the experienced people, then someone comes to a conclusion and says "both". Woohoo. I am lucky enough to live in a college town with a pretty decent DDR scene, and most of the people that I've been playing since I started about a year ago were college aged (18-24) and good. Why are you so worried about who is your rival in your age group? The people who are good will stay that way no matter whether or not you criticize them or not, and the people who just started will improve. Worry more about the people who can't pass by a DDR machine and be polite, who have to make fools of themselves about something they have never tried. Those are the types I like to uh, have fun with. Hehehh. Any thoughts? |

As the monk in Bulletproof Monk said, "It's not about anger, it's about peace." We need to respect and get along with each other. I've seen posts in the Arcade Forum that says DDr is dying because vets are dissing n00bs. This is wrong. Who cares if the next generation is starting on our machines. In a few years, we won't be able to DDR as much as we can now. Either because of families or careers or school and whatnot. We need to educate the young ones so someone can carry the torch on. I started thinkingthat maybe this is just another fad to come over from Japan, but it's much more then that. If a kid wants to learn let him learn. Teach the kid how to play, and how to wait for their turn. If they are having trouble give them advice. If they spit in your face, just turn around and wait for them to get off the machine. I've seen DDr bring people together, and that is something that video games rarely do. The cameradrie among DDR Freaks is awesome, and we shoudln't stop with just the elitists who can pass LoM and PSMO. We should extend it out to those who just passed Butterfly or think ya better D. I have a dream where one day all DDR players will compete and no one will be the loser because everyone wins when we all get along. After all, we all need a little help from our friends.
Good night you princes of the dance pad, you kings of the DDR Revolution. _________________

I used to Brag, but now I don't. People stereotype 12 year olds (me) as braggers. Heck, I heard people talking behind my back at Narrows before *Cough: the guys with memory Cards who get so many AA/AAA's cough*. |

It didn't seem to be that the point of this thread was to be elitist about one's own skill; rather it seemed to be about those elitst n00bs. I didn't see anyone claim to be a world-class DDR player here. They are just venting anger, and rightfully so, regardless of thier own ability.
My 2 cents. |
wwll you can look at my vids in my sig to see that i'm not lying about my FS skill, but other than that i was saying that people that just give n00bs a hard time are real jerks because they don't help at all, just point and laugh. sometimes when i play i see people that are decent, i put my money in and i choose a song on light and suck at it, they talk thier poopy, then i play a heavy song and SDG the shit out of it, then they talk. thats why you shouldn't talk crap about n00bs. _________________

if you saw the clip you can see that they cheer for thier NY player, til they realize that that the SoCal player is 100x more advanced than he is. |
Just for the record, the kid on the right (Reflexx) finished second in that tournament (to JSB) and recently passed Legend Road. 100x better is a bit too much of an exageration. /off-topic
Personally, I don't have a problem with people based solely on age. At my arcade, there is 13-year old who plays and he is cool as hell, very respectful, and my no means arrogant (for the record, I'm 18). However, there are a few people (ages 12-14) who are known for cutting in line and stealing people's stuff. It all depends on the individual. _________________

What the hell are you talking about dude!? If you read back, you will see where that had everything to do with a previous posters comments. You need to back off a bit and learn to calm down. I said that jokingly and it wasn't ment to offend people. Only people who take things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY would take that offensively, so just get over it and move on. BTW I NEVER said I was better than so and so, yada, yada, yada, all I was saying was to get over the age crap. The best players out here are 18 and up, I don't see highschoolers EVER who can rock the scene, yes, I know there are some, thank you. But people diss on the older group, I was just pointing something out: LEARN SOME RESPECT.
Next time you feel like pointing out the fact that "someone brought nothing to the disscussion" you should possibly look at yourself....you brought not a damn thing to this conversation...congratulations. _________________
