I'm curious as to how people here who have home DDR versions store their mat. I've heard of people rolling up the mat, folding it up like the way it came in the box, or folding it another way, or not folding it at all.

I tend to "2-fold" my mat up, with a crease between the LR and bottom button, and a second crease between the top and LR button. Seems to work ok, but I'm curious as to what others do.

I fold all of mine in half at the center and place them flat on top of my cube-shelf.

For travel purposes, however, I fold it into 3rds above and below the LR buttons.

I don't see why the wiring would be compromised in any folding situation, however, unless undue pressure was placed on the pad from the top. (Hence folding in half, I still feel secure placing stuff on top--just not on the fold. Like my GF controller.)

I do NOT fold my pad at all! When storing, i keep it flat on a sparingly-used air hockey table. When traveling, i put it in the trunk of my moms van, so its always flat.

I usually just leave it on the ground, but when that is UNACCEPTABLE I usually just store it sideways and flat next to my bed. The pad is messed up enough, so I don't want to fold it.

i'll never fold a pad again....

i let my ex (when we were together) take one of my pads to florida (i'm in new mexico) so she can show her friends down there DDR. it was folded like a cube (four folds) and when she got back, the pad was full of problems. worked for a minute then flaked out, or didn't work at all. and that was the pad that wasn't in use all the time!

(salvaging the pad for my metal pad project)

if it's a factory fold (like folding it like it came in the box) you shouldn't have many problems. it's when you try to cram it into airport luggage and have the living s**t beat out of it by some lame @$$ luggage handler, all the while thinking "i shouldn't have never let her take the freaking pad" that s**t happens.

i hang mine of the wall on a nail like a poster when i am not using it.

i wrap the cord up and hang the mat by the cord. That way it's laying out flat and still not in the way. that and i don't mind a mat being used as a poster happy.gif

I fold mine just like it came in the box and store it in a cabnet on our entertainment center or just throw it in my closet.

what i do is i fold my special. i fold it in thirds from left to right with first the left to about the right edge of the control box and the right to the left of the control box making sure i'm not bending any of my contacts. It may not seem like much but i heard of the same soft pads i've had for 2 and a half years last 3 weeks. However my first of two pads died a month ago.

I have another, but it's got a space on my wall waiting... E4.gif

I rarely fold my DDR mat. I leave it on the floor in front of the TV in the basement. When I do have to fold it, to transport it, I fold it in thirds vertically.

I usually have to fold my pad up because their wouldn't be any room in my room to walk through. (I share with a older sister and the beds take a lot of space).

I stapled mine to a board and slip em behind the lazy boy. I really dont see how people use non-secured pads. Even with 5/8" plywood under mine, they drift all over the place. If I were to play any of the Max's on a foam pad not stapled to anything I'd either break my neck or rip the pad in half...
