Confusion of what gender Naoki Maeda is

Most of my friends tell me Naoki is a boy , but some of my friends tell me Naoki is girl. Does anyone actually konw what gender Naoki is?

Are you talking about the cowboy in 5th Mix or the Artist? Whichever one you're talking about, Naoki's a Male.

BTW: Since we're talking about Naoki Gender Confusion, is the character N.M.R from 5th Mix a guy or a girl? I'm thinking Female because you get to choose that character on the 2P side in 5th Mix.

I am confused too i mean in the songs i always hear a girl but i saw a pic of him and he kinda looks like a guy but his dancers clothes looks like a girl

I was a little confused on the gender of Naoki for a while myself.

Its easy to confuse Naoki for a girl, because most of his songs, show no name of the female vocalist, except for Paula Terry.

When I first started DDR, I thought Naoki was a female band.

First of all, as previously stated, Naoki is definately a guy.

Secondly, I believe it's Paula Terry sings in most of his songs, although some songs do have other singers.

Finally, his name is pronounced Nah-oh-key, which is usually slurred to sound more like Now-key.

There is one odd thing, in DDR Max 2 US, you can choose your character to be Naoki and it definitely looks like a girl. Seriously. I want more proof that "it" is a man.

Ahhhh!!! Mispronouncing Japanese names and words is one of my pet peeves. Quick Japanese lesson for all:

Vowals: A I U E O

A sounds like the "a" in father, but shorter.
I sounds like "ee" in meet, but shorter.
U sounds like "u" in hula, but shorter.
E sounds like "e" in get.
O sounds like "o" in or, but shorter.

With the exception of the letter "n", all syllables in the Japanese language are 2 or 3 letters. So, using our new found knowledge, this is how we properly pronounce a few of our DDR songs that constantly get butchered.

Sakura --> Pronounced Sa (as "sa" in sarcasm but shorter) - ku (as "ku" in Kuwait but shorter) - ra (as "ra" in mirage but shorter). Most people pronounce it as "Suh - ker - a" and it drives me absolutely nuts

Naoki --> Pronounced Na (as "na" in narcotic but shorter) - o (as "o" in or, but shorter) - ki (as "kee" in keep or "key" in key)

Sobakasu Freckles --> Pronounced So (as in "so" in so) - ba (as in "ba" from bark but shorter) - ka (as "ca" in car but shorter) - su (as "su" in Susan but shorter)
