Emi is really kawaii!!!  But my favorite one is the one with the long blue hair. I don't know her name cuz I'm not cool like that but yeah. |

Alice, methinks.
I like Rage, Emi, Naoki, NMR, Asami, 2MB, and Maho. That and... uh... I like the pink-haired one from Ultramix, the white spiky-haired one from Ultramix, and the weird, scantily dressed one with blonde hair (from ultramix, if you hadn't already guessed). There's more, but I'm too lazy to think right now.

I dressed up as Rage (in his 4th Mix outfit) for Halloween. That should give you a good idea of who my favorite character is. 
Other favorites: Akira, Baby-Lon, Naoki, Emi, Yuni

Emi: She's just a cool character.

Rage: I love the spiky hair! He's also one of the few anime/video game characters I don't mind with a goatee....
Naoki: His cowboy look with the hat, clothes, and ponytail just appeals to me. I don't know why.
Maho: Like in another thread, she has that classy look to her. It's only a matter of time before Zukin-Man posts here....
Devil-Zukin: I dressed up as the 4th Mix version of her last year. The coolest Zukin, in my opinion.
U1: I should start using him more often, he's cool.
NMR: I need to start using this guy, too.

I don't think he is related to the "Gradius" series. According to the DDR EI website, he's really a police officer fro LA or something.

Wow, am I that predictable? 
As for me, Kaleigh pretty much nailed it. I'm a Maho fan. When playing on US MAX2, I usually put Tracy and Lady in the back, since they share Maho's dance style and they tend to mimic her about 75% of the time.
Another combo is Maid, Oshare, and Princess-Zukin. One of them dances differently from the others, but I forget which. Must remember to experiment with Zukin combinations later...
When playing as males, I tend to use just one character. Most of the time, it's Afro, Spike, or any handy Robo/Konsento.
As for mixes where multiple dancers aren't an option for a single player, any choice inside of Maho, Tracy, Afro, Spike, Charmy, and any Robo/Konsento or Zukin usually does just fine.
...
And how did I manage to drag out an answer to a character question for that long?

Da DDR charaters are cool and all but they ain't got NOTHING on Bust-A-Groove's Heat, Strike, and Shorty just to name a few.
