|
|
I just recently got into a "more diverse" musical playlist and I like this kind of music so much now that I want to go looking for it but can't because I don't even know the type of genre it is. Some stuff I can break apart but I dont know how to tell a lot of them apart from each other. i was wondering what is what and how can you tell each other apart?
So far I have attempted to put some ddr favorite in categories so I can go music hunting and find relative types of new music. All I REALLY know is that 6th mix sounds a lot like trance and house to me with Ghosts and So Deep standing out.
I'd appricieate a lot of feedback so I don't feel stupid too much longer/ _________________

Thats about what 90% of the "techno" in DDR is. Either House or Trance. Dynamite Rave is far from RAVE BTW. So Deep can't be considered progressive because it stays the same throughout the whole song (I'm talking the actual long version here)
However, if you're looking for Techno in general, Look for stuff by Paul Oakenfeld (I think thats how its spelt) and Robert Miles they do pretty good House and Trance. If you're looking for more of ambience look at Musiq and some Aphex Twin. |

Oh, and btw, "spelt" isn't a word either, say spelled.
Um... Darude, and Sarina Paris are good house too.
... What's wrong with Sarina Paris???? |

Is Sarina Paris house? I always thought that she belonged to the "crap" genre...
As for So Deep, it builds up to the "DDR part", although the basic melody is the same-ish. Progressive or not, it's still awsome. _________________

That right only some, because the other Aphex Twin stuff is hardk04r, in your face, industrial, r04r r04 R04R!... kind of stuff.
Glad to know some one else listens to them. _________________

If you have a broadband connection, you MUST go to http://www.ishkur.com/features/music/index.htm# it's a Flash guide to over 140 genres of electronic music.
And everyone who listens to Aphex Twin should also listen to Squarepusher. The music video for "Come on my Selector" is the only music video out there that is better than Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy" |

Too bad that of the songs you listed, only Be Lovin' is actually happy hardcore. Follow the Sun and Shooting Star are just saccherine dance-pop. Fast saccherine dance-pop, but that doesn't make them happy hardcore. In fact, Be Lovin is the only real happy hardcore song in DDR. You could make an argument for Candy(star), but even that's questionable.
As for the original poster....
Based on the DDR songs that you like, I'd say walk into any Sam Goody or Tower Records and randomly pick out some compilation disc with a title like "Ultimate Trance Megamix" or "Ultra Trance Nation-Universe 2009". Preferably it will feature a futuristic or alien looking landscape that appears to have been created in approximately 37 seconds in 3D Studio Max. There will be about 7,294 of these for you to choose from. It doesn't matter which you pick; they're all the same. _________________

Bet you'd like a band called Rank 1. Also try Blank & Jones, DJ Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, or Infected Mushroom (if you're into trance). If you wanna check out happy hardcore, a good place to start is the "Happy 2b Hardcore" mix CDs (there's 7 volumes now). Also be sure to check out Juno Reactor for some darker trance. Greatest. Band. Ever!! _________________

I disagree with that statement for these reasons,
1) follow the sun was produced by Triple J a well known Happy Hardcore producer, it appears on countless happy hardcore CD's, example
http://www.happyhardcore.com/records/record_releasetrackprofile.asp?action=recorditemsdisplay&recordtracksid=1151
2)Shooting star was produced by Bang !, remixed by Brisk, Brisk, and Ham, again 3 very well known happy hardcore DJ's
Its appeared on many happy hardcore cd's including happy 2b hardcore chapter 3, Original hardcore and a few of Bangs ! own compelation cds
also i dont know how much happy hardcore u listen to, but its all cheezy. |

Upon re-listening to Follow The Sun, I will concede that it could be considered happy hardcore if you turn your bass all the way up.

Just because it's been remixed into happy hardcore doesn't make it happy hardcore.

Not much, for exactly that reason. I prefer my hardcore a little bit more...um...well, hardcore. _________________
