Not really dancing?? devil.gif DDR is the only TRUE way of dancing.

Speaking of, I was drawn towards the machine because it was written somewhere that I shall. And King of the Hill.

The ways it is appealing now, is physical exercise *I'm lazy*, it helps with eye-foot coordination, and the Solo colors are pretty, and Daikenkai.

I've always been crazy about rhythm games (SC5, Parappa, Um Jammer Lammy, Frequency), and DDR looked like a step up from controller-playing. Once I played it, I was hooked. I think I stuck with it because the learning curve is slow but *really* long, meaning it takes so many months of playing to get really good.

Well I've always liked music games, and I first played cause I thought the music was cool and I really liked the idea of people watching you.

Espicially since DDR is so unique, when people see someone playing it their usually automatically going to watch them whereas a racing or fighting game is so common most people don;t give them second thought.

Basically I play for the music and socially. I have made lots of friends from DDR, at arcades and school. I've played with lots of people I didn't know, which is weird cause I'm shy. DDR has also gotten me into almost every genre of music.

One thing else to mention, notice how with the most popular fighting/racing/whatever games, usually only people that play it or other kids/teens watch you play it or play it themselves. What I like about DDR is any person, any age can get into it, male or female, young or old, anime freak or average joe. DDR is a really unique game. There now I'm done pouring my heart out E13.gif

Ooooh good question.

At first I'd hafta say it was new and looked fun, so I stuck with it.

I'm still into it now because it's still fun, the music's great, and yeah I suppose I get decent exercise, and I do meet interesting people.

All in all it's a fun game and with this arcade game, button mashing will NOT help! Bwa ha ha ha!

Love of Techno

Oh, and it never really ends. How many other video games have this much body movement, either?

I first got into DDR because the machine itself looked really nice and shiny. laugh.gif

I've stayed in it because it gives me exercise, and it actually makes me feel better when I'm not happy.

Well, when you know people who compete in toureys, it is only a matter of time before you start to play. (not that I am any good) I play it, mainly, because I have friends who play it, and it is fun way to spend time together. I also love the music, go j-pop! E1.gif

I started because I was magnetically drawn to the machine at eleven years old. And, I'm embarrassed to say, a gorgeous guy playing double on 3rd at Playdium, Misasauga. love.gif He let me play versus with him (he even paid) and aquainted me with my first DDR song: Butterfly.

I was hardly a light-player for a good three years, not really committed to the machine. The thing that made me a freak was yet another boy, this time a good friend friend of mine. He started playing, and gave me competition and the incentive to improve.

It took me three years to go from light to standard. It took me two weeks to go from standard to heavy. Not to say I'm the master yet, far from it.

So we can sum up my initial devotion to DDR in two words: Boy crazy.

Now I play mostly because I'm a terrible dancer. But when I get up on this glorious machine, people stop and watch me, sometimes even cheer or compliment me. And I love the music. And it just...feels like home.

I swear to god the new Britney/Madonna song must be about DDR:

And no one cares
It's whippin' my hair, it's pulling my waist
To hell with stares
The sweat is dripping all over my face
And no one's there
I'm the only one dancing up in this place
Tonight I'm here
Feel the beat of that drum, gotta get with that bass
I'm up against the speaker, tryin'-a take on the music
It's like a competition, me against the beat
I wanna get in the zone...

It just goes on and on. And that's what it is for me.

What made me want to play it? Well honestly...my girlfriend/future fianceƩ Sabrina, she said that she played it and was pretty good at it...so she primarily began my playing...

an incentive to play and get good at it.....

and I'm blessed with a talent to pick up things REALLY fast...so I began my road of DDR as everyone else...but until then...I began accelerating very very fast...S4R on 5th mix, then moving to 7th mix, and gradually began AA'ing and AAA'ing songs. My quest to AAA continues and gives me a reason to continue playing....

what appeals to me about DDR?

The fact that someone can AAA something...the fact that above all people I can AAA something...the fact that someone's mind can be trained in such a way to read arrows at such a perfect level...just astonishes me. Take and Yasu are perfect examples. Amazing.

Far from dancing but freestyling isn't half bad

....but a great excersise though I dont lose any weight because I'm a light weight as it is...and my metabolism is sky high

I dont really have a fond kinship for males in particular which keeps me away from making male friends...or even female DDR'ers on the same note...I'm just a loner by nature and do things myself...I play alone, and accomplish everything alone. I rarely have support when I play. Except from the crowd.

DDR Does end... When you run out of money. E4.gif
I started playing DDR because my friend insisted that I play, so I bought The PS2 MAX game... I sucked and he rocked but Now I p3wn him! E4.gif
(He's still on light and I am the masta of the 9 footer!

When a few friends and I had a get together at someones house, a friend of mine brought the game and a dance pad. He was playin on it and I was pretty amazed, then I tried, and did horrible, after that i wanted it for myself, and got hooked pretty fast.

I had so much fun playing at home on my ddr us mix with my soft pad.

As to what appeals to me about it, I don't like it anymore, music got really wierd, got way too competitive, the whole thing with mods. us mix actually had some cool dancable songs. Then i borrowed my friends 3rd mix, and played that to no end... i miss the old days

'Cuz it looked damn cool. DAMN cool.
Oh, and cuz no one else was playing and I felt like separating myself from the crowd. You live in a ghost town when a B on Sana Morette on light gets you applause.
