Hi all, I'm a new guy here with a quick question.

I've been assigned to purchase DDR for the XBox for my fiance, but I've had one practical question nagging me:

Is there any feasible way to use a dance pad and not annoy the people below us in our apartment?

Are there pads on the market that can dampen vibrations or somehow reduce the amount of force trasmitted through the floor?

Any help would be great, though at this point buying our neighbor a case of beer and getting on his good side seems like Plan A. Thanks in advance.

It's going to be hard to play DDR in an apartment, that's for sure. Maybe you could consider getting some foam pads?
I can't garantee that it'll stop the vibration, but I think it would help at least a little.
You can alot of 'em really cheap at Ebay, it's the shipping cost that'll get to you. Good luck.

I had that problem on the 3rd floor of my dorm. But they were noisy so they got what they deserved!! Bwa ha!

I don't live in an apartment, condo, or dorm, but I got a MyMyBox 6panel pad and it doesn't viberate. The only noise it makes is when u step on it it makes a lil bit of noise. I hope this helps.

meby u should just learn to not stomp the pads like a maniac. also, why dont u get ps2 and the ddr versions it has? more variety of ddr games/songs for the ps2. i dont think ultramix will be that great compared to ddr extreme jap ps2 version for example.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll experiment a little to find the best solution. I might even ask some of my audio engineer friends about dampening vibrations and sound.

And to reply to Reflex's question, I'm not getting the PS2 versions because I don't have a PS2. Personally, I'm more interested in the games Xbox has to offer, but that doesn't mean there aren't PS2 games I'm interested in.... DDR used to be one of them.

It's just that I've gotten my fiance playing Xbox (Halo, Project Gotham, and soon Ultramix) and her sister and I make one heck of a Halo co-op team.

So you see, I've just got too much invested in Xbox at the moment, and not enough resources to go out and get another console.

That said, I'm greatly looking forward to Ultramix, and the many trips to Home Depot that may follow.

You best bet is to spread out the force across as much of the floor as possible.

This unfortunately is very hard to do, and well, unfortunately even the best DDR pads have a very small surface area comparitively.

Also, increasing padding is nice, but at a certain point, it makes being accurate and safe while playing hard to do.

Ideal, double the surface area of the base of the dance pad, while rigging it to support the pad seperate from the base and able to equally spread the force across the entire base.

Now I definately wouldn't want to be the engineer to design or build that... hence why I currently live on the gorund floor at my apartment complex, and will still leave on the ground floor when I move to a new complex at the end of the year.

Does anyone have a rough, or perhaps an exact, idea how the dimensions (length, width) of the bundled dance pad? Thanks in advance.
