Observation: I've observed that trends in Japan eventually become trends in the U.S.( i.e. punk). Also DDR used to be all the rage in Japan but now it has died down. I believe that the same will happen in the U.S. Right now DDR is just emerging from a underground activity to something that is featured in news articles and T.V. By many it is still considered something that doesn't look cool and in general isn't cool. Our culture may merge with DDR as Japan's did. The abundance of J-pop and J-rock songs in DDR is obviously a representation of the merging of Japanese culture into it. As seen in the home version of Max2(US) DDR is already obtaining licensed songs which appeal to the teens of America. (i.e. Crystal Method, Kylie Minogue). And I wanted to share that with you.

My new name will be PNK on scoreboards.

It will also be used as my name.
Thank you.

Well, seeing how all things that are underground that go Mainstream are considered Fads. All fads will eventually die down but are they truly dead...no they just go under the underground and await to go mainstream again. Take Bell Bottoms for instance they died...and came back *shudders*

Once I stop playing it will happen. laugh.gif

It seems everything I do gets taken eventually by the snotty popular kids at school... Like when I started calling my friend "DJ" cause, well, it was his intials. I once said it in class, the snots heard it, and have been call him it ever since. disturb.gif And like alot of my friends and mine inside jokes. I yell at people who use them. E13.gif

But, it will eventually become a large fad, and it will be everywhere. I dread that day... Think of the lines!! erm.gif I have a feeling that it wont be as big as in Japan though. I think it will be a large fad, but more of a geeky one. The snotty popular kids will get the guts to try it, and then I will play, and put them to shame.. E4.gif

Well, in response to Kbmx's comments I say the opposite. Even in magazines like YM it's being mentioned. It will become more of a popular thing than a geeky thing. Right now it's a geeky thing. Although I do agree with you on that it will become a fad and then just fade out like everything else.

And I like your Kenshin sig. E1.gif

All good things must come to an end, proverbially speaking.

DDR will have it's downfall, but it may take a while, I give it 4 to 5 years before it finally dies. There will still be the faithful few who play it still...

When the day comes when everyone, and i mean everyone and their teachers's uncles' brothers' aunt plays DDR, i hope my arcade gets dance freaks, or piu. When everyone's playin that, i hop up on the piu machine and have my own fun time without waitling in line.

Or, When the day comes when everyone, and i mean everyone and their teachers's uncles' brothers' aunt plays DDR, i hope my arcade gets guitar freaks, or BMIIDX, or Pop 'n or drummania. But i espicially hope for PPP. Everyone will say it's gay, but i'll still play!

PPP is by far the worst game of them all. How can you want that piece of crap instead of IIDX, or DM even.

How could you not like Mystical Ninja Starring: Goemon?

or Goemon's Great Adventure?

Those are some of the best games Konami made for the N64.

Awesome game. I can never forget the "world" conversation with the water imp near the end. laugh.gif

Imp: Carve the word WORLD into that rock and tell me what it is you want!

Yae: But it's no easy task carving "world" into that rock!

Goemon: It's a tough world!

Yeah, I have a wacky sense of humor.

Yeah, welcome to 2001. All of these things you people are talking about have already happened. It was huge a few years ago IN THE US, and just recently things have been dieing down. Only one or two major tournament happened in '03 (B3 coming to mind) and one new mix came out almost a year ago for arcades.

Once you get off that whole "OMG, YOU USE YOUR FEETSIES TO PLAY THIS GAME!" then the novelty of the game dies fast. Most anyone who played it competetively back in the day has completely quit from the scene.

Only cuz I play al those "gay" songs like yozora no muko and silent hill sometimes. I make stranges laugh when i play it's raining men doubles. Some people call me gay. So i play the gay songs cuz if i'm already "gay" playing the game, i can play the"gay" songs...

Back on topic, that actually related to what i was gonna say. Everyone would PPP is gay, so no one would play it. But i would play it and play the "gay" songs and make people laugh...

And because i love Boom Boom Fire!

I've been playing for a couple of years and still remember the first time that I ever stepped on the machine. Since then we have had many tournaments at the arcade where I work and still get a kick out of peoples reaction when they first step on the machine and begin to learn how to play.

It really sucks to see there interest in the game going up as mine is falling because of how much that i've played over the years. I guess with time everything gets old and we have to find something else to keep us entertained. Thats why when I played Pump it up for the first time I liked it because of the different pad, step patterns, music, and difficulty.

Unless Konami plans on releasing another mix for the arcades then interest will fade away as people begin to get tired of playing the same songs on whichever mix they happen to have over and over again.

If Konami doesn't release a new mix then I will give DDR maybe 4-5 years before it dies, and thats stretching it. RIP DDR we'll miss you(that is until we find some other game thats more fun to play! laugh.gif _)

Ok this has all been talked about before already. I personally don't think ddr will ever be totoally "dead" just because new people will always get the guts to try... spend loads of money on equipment or perfecting their skills in the arcade and wanna show off. Sure not everyone is gonna play it forever but we can say the same thing for everquest and its still around (bad example). I don't understand why people fret about these kinda things, sure there will be a point that you stop playing ddr but i dont think its gonna be when it "dies" i think its gonna be when you lose substantial interest. Konami knows people have interest in this game and will continue to make new mixes until that interest fades to nothing. Which wont happen.... ack w/e I just woke up and have school.. shouldn't be trying to think... plus i have ddr later on today E13.gif
