my dad told me that my stepmom and stepsister tried PIU at the batting cages. and he had confidence that i could show them whats up. so i said OK. i got on and never knowing what the concept of the game was until i saw the HTP. now about this time i stopped for 3 seconds and decided to concentrate on hitting the arrows. and that actually worked. i got an A on my first try.
MANY MONTHS LATER
S on Beethoven Virus.
S on Monkey Magic
S on Runaway
S on Temtation
i used to think PIU was the poopy compared to DDR. then DDR came in and i pwned it at the movies. my bro used to play with me. but he later thought it was stupid. so basically my dad got me into it. and now he loves me playing it. cool.

Okay...like I said, I thought I could do the catastrophics, but I couldn't. Besides, I didn't play that much DDR anyways. 2002, I revisit golfland, to see if they made more mixes. I thought they put in 5th mix in, but I was wrong. When I came in, my first song of that machine I heard was called Ghosts (Vincent De Moor remix). I was wrong, by one more mix called DDRMAX! I tried it out, and, like I said, I sucked. Christmas 2002, I got DDRMAX for a present (and a PS2 to top it all off, I mean, you can't play a PS2 game if you don't have a PS2!). I practiced on that game.

An almost forgot on this section: Mid 2002, DDRMAX2 came out on Golfland, but I was grounded, because of a big fat whosit at school. I didn't get to see what DDRMAX2 was like, until...

4th of July, 2002, I went to Hotel Nugget at Reno, went to the Skywalker Arcade, and finally found out what it looked like. It was like DDRMAX, only the background was a little darker.

Right Now:
Good thing my hand-eye-coordination transfers around to my feet. Winter 2003, DDRE (Let's just call it DDRMAX3) had arrived at Golfland. I only got to play it once, because there were like, 16 people waiting to play! I played 321 Stars right (ASO Hiphop Mania Complete 2), but I was searching for another song, but I accidentaly pressed start on La Bamba, because somebody scared the Fookendookies out of me.

(To be continued)

Good thing hand-eye coordination transfers to my feet. Then, somewhere around October, I played and survived 5 songs. I finally completed INSERTiON for the first time on foot!

Failed INSERTiON's on DDR

DDRMAX2 (Tilt, New Park Mall) (late 2002)
DDRMAX2 (Caesar's Palace) (Christmas 2002)

Passed INSERTiON's on DDR

DDRE (Tilt, New Park Mall) (October 2003)

I survived four more songs. Kakumei (Standard), and 3 more Heavy mode songs, I forgot what they were called. So that's about it. That's how I got into DDR.

Very different, compared to most of the players who got into DDR through anime. I'm not an anime freak, but after I played DDR and listened/played some of the songs like Lupin The 3rd/Freckles and many based off anime that got me a little more into it. Same with Initial D!! But I got into DDR by being curious one day at Scandia in Ontario, wonderin how to play.

I got a demo disc in an issue of OPM and it had:

Look to the sky
Let the beat hit em
exotic ethnic(or as me and my friends call it Exotic erotic, lol long story)

Played it on the controller and went out and bought a soft pad and Max that sunday and now i have max/max 2 extreme and a cobalt flux. So i would say i am "hooked'' E4.gif

Babs's Process

1) 2000 heard about it for months in chates beween DDR-ing internet pals. they showed me pix from DDR freak of people and stuff and the step charts. drove me up the wall cuz it sounded fun and i thought i' never get to play it

2) 2001 went to florida for winter break. found the dared thing played for 2 days while florida kids were still in school (ah, privacy)

3) Summer 2001 finally found a machine in X-gates. Mom got so mad about the 1.5 hr drive just to play a game, she bought me a PS2 and DDR Konamix and a pad (and airblade, but airblade sux)

3) Sometime 2002 Saratoga got DDR

4) A few weeks ago (last moth?) New Hartford got Extreme

erm, we travel alot and happen to find machine sometimes =D[/b]

April, 1999: Checked out a place in Koreatown, LA called Cyberzone Arcade. Got this information from a Tips & Trick magazine (the editor--would you believe--is Larry Flynt!) featuring a token from that place. Tried playing that Have You Ever Been Mellow song on the DDR 1.5 mix machine & was ready to give up Bemani games completely, if it hadn't been for the fact that Jenith (Bum Suk) told me how to play the game. Otherwise, I would't be the current DDR arcade locations scout in the So Cal region. And the rest is history!...

Is that a trip or what? Please reply, over! Thanks!

Just last year, my youth group went to a bowling alley from 12-3 AM. There they had DDR (Probably 5th mix. I didn't even look). That was the first time I saw it in action. I was thinking to myself, "I gotta get this game," because I heard it was on Playstation. Well, time passes, and I go to a meet at a skating rink and find they had Techno Motion (Thought it was DDR, though). I thought to myself again, "I'm gonna get this game." Christmas passes and a PS2 has entered the family household. For some reason I thought of DDR, got DDRMAX and 2 Ignition 2.0 soft pads for my birthday, and have not regretted it since E13.gif
