He was saying that if you use the acronym "ddr" (instead of saying the entire title) that you were considered a "freak".

That's foiking crazy. Over here, you're a nerd-geek if you say out "dance dance revolution" instead of saying "ddr." The fewer words you say, the cooler you are, I guess. blink.gif

You're a geek if you enunciate! E13.gif

Is it just me, or does anyone else freak out whenever someone uses the word "dance" in the title; "That dancing game" or "Dance Dance Revolution" (yes, the title bugs me out). It makes me feel like everyone thinks I'm gay... Not a good feeling. I just tell eveyone it's called DDR and then it's all fine.

See I've kinda got the reverse problem. I go to uni and they're very open to clubs and student based intiatives; like, I emailed them asking if they'd install a DDR machine in the student union's arcade and they were like "sure why not". I gotta wait until Easter though =\

Problem is _nobody_ here plays. Like, at all. And believe me if I asked more people than I already have I'd look even more obsessed than I already look.

Once I get that damn homemade mat sorted out (fat chance, the contacts have all stuck together because it was left to stand for a month) and shipped up to uni I might be able to garner some interest but until then it's no good if I'm the only person who plays.

See my previous posts. There's absolutely no DDR scene here in Edinburgh -- it's something 12 year old girls play as far as everyone else is concerned.

I'd like to start a club, but I really feel like I need to build interest in the game first. And the odds are against me -- let's put it this way, when someone in Wisconsin puts together a team-based DDR skirmish, whoever's playing against the Fox Valley team almost always has to pick two or three of their players to sit out, just to make it even. My question is simple: In a DDR-virgin world, how do I get people interested, and more importantly, becoming active players?

Well just because it's a DDR club doesn't mean it has to be a competition. The club at my school is not a "team" just a buncha people hanging out and DRRing. No competition at all.

A DDR in club in my school may soon be a reality. I talked it out with the prinicipal but he still wants to hear from our club moderator. Hopefully they'll get together, discuss it, and I'll have news by Monday. The moderator is cool: she completely supports the club and even has the game herself.

My post from the "Planning on Starting a DDR Club--Suggestions?" thread that was never answered:

Quote:
I was thinking of starting a DDR Club and getting DDR Machines for our PE class. I was thinking about 3 or 4. Could there be anyone that could sponsor us, or donate (a) machine(s) to our school, unless i write a grant. I have a written thing for the principal.

That would be great, but I doubt that there is interest of it in my school.

No. And why would I develop a DDR club? Why not a BEMANI and Rhythm Action club?

Well, that could work. If you live near other bemani games or have a jps2 with imports and controllers for the games. In PA, we have DDr, and PIU. But no one plays PIU. So we only have DDR.
