I have do do a research paper on a hobby that I have for my English 4 class. Naturally DDR came to mind. So, anybody have any ideas on how I should go about composing this? I never was good at reports and such... disgust.gif

-How to play the game
-Why it is so fun
-Explain how it is a game anyone could play (beginner mode)
-You can read the media articles on DDRFreak and see what the press wrote about it.

If it's a research paper you're probably more going to want to go into the history of it. Explain the evolution of the foot-based game pad from Nintendo or before all the way up to what are modern dancing games, then go into DDR, its rules, where it originated, and how it has changed and matured over time.

That would suffice for a lot of stuff to look up to beef up your works cited page.

Ah. I was in the same situation as you, but not entirely the same. A couple of weeks ago, I had to write a five paragraph essay on explaining how to do something. Naturally I picked the only thing I knew how to do: DDR. Haha, yeah, I'm a nerd.

ddr_addict had some good pointers. You should explain (not in GREAT detail, for length's-sake) how to play the game. Also, some of your own experiences while playing DDR might help, too. Background information would also be the way to go, and I should stop now... considering this probably isn't as helpful as I'd like it to be. Just go to Yahoo! or Google.com and look up DDR. You'd be surprised at how many sites you'll be able to find about it.

i actually attempted to uncover the history of ddr by finding little bits and pieces of history from different articles and believe i traced it to the original creators of both the idea for the mats and the game. Both the patents gave rights to konami and the creators are japanses so i'm pretty sure it's them E4.gif . If you want the file pm me an email address and i'll send it when i see the message. WARNING: It is a total of 7 pages long so you may want to make sure it's not due monday or something if your a bad reader.....

I'm not sure, i'm only sixteen, though i'd probably include:
1. History of the game.
2. Who plays it, and why?
3. The concept and/or how to play it (probably tied in with history)
4. Perhaps discuss the current situation (ie. tournaments, popularity) and how you can see the game doing in the near future.

If that doesn't work.. just drag your teacher down to the arcade and show her.. a picture's worth a thousand words =D

Sorry, I just couldn't restrain myself. (I had a nasty exam in Complex Variables today, I really needed something to make me laugh.)
