[on topic] I remember the first time I looked at So Deep's groove radar on heavy i was like, "Ooooo, what makes this song have so much chaos?"

I think I figured it out. E4.gif

I'm so glad that someone had brought this song up! This song is a doggy if there ever is one. I love the Orion series, all of them are hard to dance, but damn! The beat to me seems to be pulled out of nowhere! But I think that its one of the best mixes.

OOOH! I had just remembered(and this proves my point about slow tempos)some songs that are humiliatingly hard songs on Heavy/Maniac are Secret Rendez-vous, Sana Morette Ne Ente, Luv 2 Me, and Electro Tuned.

Songs with unusual(and otherwise unnecesary)freezes are Burnin Heat, Tsugaru.-there are others, but these ones get me soo upset that I always step early.

Whoever hasn't danced MAX2, A Little Bit of Ecstasy(one of the coolest songs ever...I'll be your dream, I can be your fantasy...damnit! Got it stuck in my head!) has one of the hardest slow-downs in DDR history.

These are just a couple of examples. Keep on postin!

I think that the hardest slow down is Sakura

The other song that i think is very hard is Waka Laka because its so hard to read the arrows with the backround in the middle

Insertion cuz of the part in the beginning of the song

thats all that i can think of right now disturb.gif

The only reason this is easy for me is because of a little history I have with the original Drop Out.

Back when my arcade had a 5th Mix, the best song for speed was Drop Out, and it was abused badly. Anyone with half a shred of skill would play it. The other games in the arcade at the time were terrible, so the only thing to do was watch the person/people playing. With the massive coin lines at this time, this was a long wait.

Eventually, I watched so many people play it on Maniac that I sort of accidently learned to Stealth it. After a few months, I forgot most of it, but when I played the Nonstop Megamix version, I recognized the 16th run from the original Drop Out. For some reason, I remembered the hardest part perfectly.

I want to relearn how to Stealth the original Drop Out, but that may take a bit of time.[/incessant yammer]

I don't understand this. Orion goes straight to the beat in the back ground, which is a repeating one-two-onetwothree. You won't be able to sight read it on 1x but it's not really that hard to play without mods once you've gotten the hang of it.

Also, watch out on earlier mixes (like 4th+) where Drop Out and End of the Century are considered 8's not 9's.

I think that the end of Ska A Go Go trick can catch people off guard.

"Why does this have a maxed out votage rating? (Sees the runs of doom) Oh, that's why."

So Deep the first time I saw the steps surprized me (which was way before I was good enough to play it).

All of those jumps at the end of Maxx on trick.

Cartoon Heroes.

Yup.

Like I said, it was my first time playing it. I'm sure I'd do fine on it with a little practice; just like how I can almost pass Bag on 1x because I've played it so much.

W3rd. This song is a bitch to get a good ranking on. How I got a B (Konamixes rating, Duh!) on it still bugs me today. also, I FCed Orion. 78 AMuro mix somehow (It's quite simple, really. Do do do-do-do do do do-do-do.).
Anyway, some are Dynamite rave, Drop the bomb right at the end, Bag Duh!, and So Deep.
I FCed burning heat, so deep, and secret rendezvous.

yep....

Well, for those who obviously couldn't tell, either I'm really excited, or MY COMPUTER IS CRAP!!!!!.....but enough about teasing my dumbass mistake...I went back and edited them, so there should be no more problems(I hope riiight.gif )

Back to the subject!

This time I have tips on how to master these songs:
1-Listen through it on Light/Basic or Standard/Trick once or twice. That way, you can get a feel for the beat.
-Songs get soo predictable when doing this. Do this only if you don't like suprises.
2-Especially in Techno and Trance style music, listen closely to the eighth beat(the & part of 1&2&1&2&-if you don't sing or play an instrument, you probably won't know what I'm talking about.)
3-Pay attention to the words. They like to dance to the words to the song. A good example is Dive or Luv To Me.
4-If all else fails, just attempt the music-In some cases, the beat will come out of absolutely nowere! Sometimes it can be expected, sometimes not. So try your hardest and don't stop practicing.

Good Luck and keep on postin!(HA!!hahahahahahaha laugh.gif ...I should know!)

Ps. I think I broke a record yesterday! laugh.gif I can't stop laughing at myself ...im such a dorkriiight.gif

That was an interesting point about the freeze arrows. It sure does suck when they place them weirdly 'cause you can't tell how they are spaced by looking at them (atleast not very easily).

Ordinary World on Heavy: If you've had no experience whatsoever with freeze arrows where you need to turn around or do a crossover, this song is a pain. Especially when it goes from the freezes to a stream of eighths, those are a pain.

Witch Doctor on Heavy: Even after studying the step chart for a while, I failed about halfway into this song first time I tried it. If you think you can do this song just because you can do some other 8-footers, don't be surprised when you fail. (I did it because I wanted to learn it on heavy)

MaxX Unlimited on Light: Sure, you got an A on Max 300 Light. You try this song... and by the time you just barely passed it, you've felt like you did Max 300 about 10 times. Either that, or you failed. If you don't think that the maxed-out Air rating on the radar means something, you're in for some real trouble.

true... (Trance Sunrise Mix) on Heavy: Great song for crossover gallops; painful if you don't know how to do them.

Insertion: the last part where it speeds to 225 was an absolute pain the first few times I did that song...

22Dunk on Light: I don't know what the game designers were thinking when they put that last really long stream at the end.

Burning Heat's two tempo stops are guaranteed to get you at first. On Standard, you better know how to do triplet rhythms and crossover freezes.

Waka Laka on Heavy: Vicious jumps at a very fast speed.
MaxX Unlimited on Standard: See above.

Share My Love: Rhythms that go to the music, but hard to predict. Very misleading double difficulties (5 on Heavy??? Someone's been drinking...).

And, with a few exceptions, slow != easy. Anyone who's played Secret Rendez-vous, My Summer Love, Sana Morette Ne Ente, Bag, and the like can tell you that.

Actually, there are LOTS of underrated songs out there, so BEWARE! (This is why I like these forums, especially this thread. Now people know not to take So Deep on Heavy lightly.)
